I'm clearing out my tropicals, and would like to trade them for water plants or perennials. Most of these do not have a long enough growing season here for me to see them bloom and I'm tired of caring for them without the benefits of blooms.
I have:
Plumeria - 16" Tall, well rooted, hasn't begun to leaf out yet, but stock is firm. I think it is hot pink. That's how I have it labeled, but I have never seen it bloom so I can't tell you.
Plumeria - 2 ft tall, well rooted, has 6 leaves at the top. Color unknown
Brugmansias: If I have an idea of the color, I'll list it. I've seen known of these bloom and received all of these in trades, so I can only go by the labels. I had, at one time, collected many colors, but what you get here, I don't know for sure.
Brugmansia - Spring Peach - 5 inch tall, fat rooted stalk.
Brugmansia - 9" tall, leafing out, well rooted, color unknown.
Brugmansia - Small well rooted cuttings, just leafing out, color is supposed to be salmon. I have two of these.
Brugmansia - Well rooted, well leafed out, color unknown.
Hoya Carnosa - Pink Wax Flower - cuttings. Maybe a rooted piece for the right plant.
Shrimp Plant - Justica Carnea - pink blooming - small rooted cutting. Saw this bloom last year. Needs TLC, I've neglected it.
Shrimp Plant - Justica Brandegean Variegatum - or so the tag says. The leaves are not variegated but the blooms are red and yellow. I saw them last year. Plant is about a foot tall and branching. Needs some TLC. I've neglected it.
Shrimp Plant - Yellow - haven't seen it leaf out yet, so I'm not sure if it's alive yet or not. Might be a freebie if we trade other stuff. Then you can see if you can nurse it back to health.
These Heliconias are quite expensive to buy. These came from a friend of mine who grows many varieties. And I just don't have the patience to grow them. Both of these have one stalk about 2 ft tall and a shorter plant just coming up from the rhizome. The leaves on the main stalk are in bad shape due to neglect.
Heliconia Rostrata
Heliconia Iris Bannoche
Costus Varzearum - Ginger, well rooted, 18 inches tall.
Zingiber Ottensii - ginger, rhizome. I see a white eye on the rhizome so it's going to be sending up a plant soon.
Croton - houseplant/tropical. About 8 inches tall with several leaves. Needs rescued.
Cereus - Night blooming orchid cactus leaves/cuttings
Kalanchoe - Red blooming, cuttings
Bromeliad - Green leaves. Haven't seen it bloom. My friend in Louisiana had it growing outside under her trees and it was hardy for her. It was hardy for me in zone 7a one year, surviving our winter. So I'd say it would be hardy for sure in a zone 8.
Pink Fingernails Bromeliad (Neoregelia spectabilis) - Freely suckering and approximately 18" when fully developed — leaves are green in color with burgundy mottling on undersides with prominent red tip — flowers are lavender and arise just above water level in the center cup, altho I haven't yet seen it bloom.
And I think that's all for now. As I get to moving things aruond in the atrium, I may find more. I have many perennials too, like hot pink (Red Cloud is the name it was sold to me as) spiderwort, oriental limelight artemesia, orange/red crocosmias and others. If you want to see a complete list, let me know.

Variegated daylilies
Variegated irises
That's just an idea of what I KNOW I want. You may have something I've never heard of before. So let me know what you have. I will not trade for common stuff unless you see it here on this list. I have extensive gardens so I want something I don't already have. I also need good healthy plants so I won't kill them with my neglect.
You can be sure that the plants you get from me are tough if they've survived my neglect. They may be a little ragged, but with proper care, you could grow them much better than I ever would.
I like to do larger trades (with many plants in the trade) to get the most of my postage and time. And I can provide references if you aren't familiar with me. Some of you have traded with me before at another site. I know Pudgymudpies will vouch for me. Perhaps we can work something out.

HAVE: PLUMERIA, BRUGS, HOYA, SHRIMP PLNT, HELICONIA, GINGER
You have mail!
I have valerian
hellebores
red hot poker
trout lilies
bleeding hearts
variegated iris
I'd be interested in
shrimp plants and heliconias
the only problem is most is still under the snow
although I did see some buds on some of my hellebores
NancyAnn,
I would love to try your shrimp plants. I might also be interested in your brugs. :O) I have over 300 named daylilies (and more coming) but we would have to sort through them to see what you would like and which I can divide. :) I'd be happy to also root you the honeycomb buddliea. Do you want/need variegated water iris? I will soon have seedlings of Agastache Honey Bee White-up but tiny. Also have A foeniculum. I also have some 3000 seeds ready to burst or on the tiny side. I sure wish I didn't have my highway fright or I would show up for one of your in person trades.
Apparently I was bound and determined to trade! LOL I've always wondered how people double post. Looks I figured it out.

Hey Badseed,
Well, I wish you would just show up! Get in your car and drive south. My sister lives in Wilmington, not too far from Cincinnati. It takes her about 10 hrs to get here. You should plan a road trip and stop and visit all the traders between Cincinnati and here. I faced my highway fright years ago and drove from here to Louisiana, stopping to visit traders in TN and MS. What fun!! I came home with my mini van crammed FULL. Girl, I could barely see out the back! LOL
I love daylilies, particularly pinks, purples, bicolors, spiders, anything unusual. I have enough white, yellow and orange, unless you have some haloed or eyed ones. So why don't you see what you can trade, and then I'll look them up and see which ones I simply must have.
I also have perennials if you're interested in seeing that list. Maybe we could work out a nice big trade? And if you have a pond, I have tons of water celery (water parsley).
Think about our plant swap in May. Maybe you could find a buddy who'd love to come along and she could drive. We're having the swap on the 22, but the party really begins on the 20th. I have a website set up with all the details if you wanna see.

vicki
OH I wish I had the guts to think about a ten hour trip. LOL After the first RU, I ended up medicated for a year. When I first saw your reply, I thought you told me to just 'grow up'. hahahaha Seriously, I drive better than I passenger. :) I have heard some really bad things about the bridges in LA!
I'm on the laptop right now. As soon as I can get over to the desktop, I'll copy you the hem name list off XL. Can you open that okay? Guess I better get your real email addy too. I'll send you a DG mail in just a sec.
I am good on the water celery. I just dug up a bunch of little ones out of the yard and tossed them in the baby pool for now.
You've got mail.
I would love to get plumeria cuttings, I have yellow alstromeria, daylillies, pink bleeding heart, old fashioned. knififolia, lt blue congratulations iris plmk thankyou carol
Hi Nancy. I will have to email you on Wednesday. :( Hubby was doing some tweaking on the other puter and when he went to reload everything, he realized my lovely children had scratched up the cds with all the programs. Ack!! Of course his Mr. Nerd case is at work. LOL
No problem, Michele. I can wait. With this beautiful weather we have, I'm enjoying rooting around in the dirt without a care in the world. I missed all this last year and now I'm making up for it! You know I'm happiest when I am dirty. LOL
I'll hold the plants you wanted. Just email me when you are ready and we'll work out the details. Hope you get your computer back on track. Aren't you just lost without it?
NancyAnn
I still have the laptop. LOL We don't have this one set up for anything other than the internet though. My whole life is on the other. OH NO MR. BILL!!!
We sure are NOT having beautiful weather here. It has been raining and ugly all day. I moved my Wednesday clients to today and ran up to the salon to do a spiral perm and high light. Now I can play outside Wednesday when it is supposed to be 72 outside. Yippee!
I really am sorry about the delay but I will get that list off to you as soon as I can. If you can't hold the plants, it is really no big deal. :)
I am so happy that you are enjoying the weather. You owe yourself and extra summer.
Hey Michele, it's not a problem. We'll trade when you're ready. Until then, I have tons of stuff still to plant and move. And I have about 2000 cannas arriving later this week. I sponsored a canna co-op with two different canna growers participating and about 20 people. So I'll be busy later sorting out all the orders, packing and shipping. So there's no rush with our trade. The longer we wait, the more stuff I'll have up and can offer you.
Too bad you won't take a little trip here in May. A couple years ago I hosted a swap and one of the guests was a hair stylist. She traded her skills for plants and everyone was so happy. Have you considered doing that? Do you attend any plants swaps closer to you?
NancyAnn
I don't even want to talk about co-ops. LOL Those plants should kick my butt soon enough.
I have not had much luck here finding garden groups or garden friends. I think I am either too young or have too many kids. LOL I play plants with Mystic and Henry10 on a regular basis and Melissa_OH is my daylily dealer/enabler... I have only heard of one garden group around here and it is older women that do the tea, luncheon, guest speaker thing. :( I may have to start one for young, cool people. hehehe Or am I a breed of my own?
Speaking of garden groups...
I did a search yesterday for canna forums on the net. And I came across one that sounded perfect. I think it was cannas.com or something simple like that. I couldn't peak inside unless I registered, so I submitted my info and began touring around the canna site. Now with most canna sites, you see some of the same people. Cannaholics tend to flock together. But on this site, I didn't recognize anyone.
As I toured around, I wasn't really sure what I was looking at. I kept looking for discussions on different varieties and maybe some trading and such. There was NONE. I thought, good grief, what have I joined? Where's all the canna addicts?
Then I stumbled across the word HEMP! It's a marijuana site!! Well, I backed out real quick, feeling a little paranoid that Big Brother might be watching. And now I'm having second thoughts about growing the Hibiscus Cannabinus (Marijuana Leaf Hibiscus) that I just started from seeds. My friend Gail says, "No worries, I'll bail you out if they come for you." But who's gonna save me from the strip search? (Shivers)
NancyAnn
That's hilarious!!!
OMG Nancy! You are killing me! I hope they don't send you a sampler package. LOL I think Eyes acidentally posted that website last years, meaning to post the one for Horn Canna. The Hibiscus will be fine once they flower, but you better keep 'em out of site now that you have identified yourself oin the OTHER website. hahahaha
Reminds me of the time I ordered some purple poppy seeds. They came with complete instructions of how to make herion from the seeds, and how to disquise them from the feds. DH wouldn't let me plant them. My neighbor said she would bail me out or bring me books to read if I got caught, but I'm sure the cops here in small town usa ,wouldn't know one flower from another , anyway. DH was afraid big brother might be watching.LOL Lou
Hey Nancy, I go to school in Wilmington, and originally from about 20 miles from there. :-)
If you're not rid of your brugs yet, I'd love to have some for Daylilies... I have a few.... and they're all coming up pretty well, as soon as I get outside and start labeling, I'll know what I'll have to trade this year....
NancyAnn, please give whatever brugs you were holding for me, to Melissa. I get hems from her and you will not be disappointed! :) I moved all my brugs out of the garage and into the greenhouse and I am sure I will not be without them. You and I will still have our trade, I am sure. Maybe I can kidnap Melissa or Mystic and have an Arkie getaway! LOL
Oh, no, if all the brugs are spoken for, I'm good. I'm sure I'll find some! :-)
You hush! I have plenty and we can trade later! LOL
Oh, you two, just pack up and come visit! I'll have enough brugs for both of you if you aren't picky as to a name or color, since I can't be sure what they are. I just know they're brugs.
If y'all don't already have some, I have moonflower datura seeds--an annual in most places, but man it's awesome. Want some? I grow them every year. The huge white blooms have such a wonderful scent.
So are y'all packing?
NancyAnn
Nancy
Have you concidderd what I offered for some of the shrimp plants?
vicki
I'm interested in your plumerias if you haven't traded them yet.
You can check my trade list and I can also check into what else I may have if nothing on the list interests you.
Please let me know, and thanks!
Hey Nan, I think the plummies are spoken for. I am working on a trade for them right now. If it falls through, I'll re-post them. Thank you for responding.
NancyAnn
I'd love some moonflower seeds too. No, I'm not packing yet... but I am really itching for spring to be here to stay! How long has your sister lived in Wilmington? I just got back from there. :-)
My sis married a lawyer there about 20 years ago. In June, it will be their 20th anniversary. I'll email you privately. You've probably seen her name. She is very political and very community oriented there.
N.
Vicki, the shrimp plants are already spoken for. Sorry. I only had two.
N.
