Wow! Was I surprised this morning!! What an Easter! I hope this isn't baaaaaad news! Luckily before the rains came the other day I covered my transplanted seedlings and brought in my 2 new hanging baskets. I had no idea this was coming. I guess I'm glad tho or I would have panicked and not been able to do anything anyways.
WHAT is this white stuff in my yard!?!
OH MY! I know we had a cool front move thru during the night, I got up and closed the windows. We had terrible terrible winds, there are tree limbs everywhere this morning.
How cold did it get? I hope your little plants are okay.
konkrete,
Is that hail or snow?!? We didn't get anything like that up here, though it was nippy!
That is snow!!! I got up a little after 8 and opened the blinds in one bedroom and went "AAAAHHHH!!!!" and ran to the living room and stared in disbelief! It was starting to look more like slush, which is the way our snow usually looks, by the time I saw it. Within an hr it was gone and my husband, who slept late, did not believe me. I don't think it got down to freezing. I think everything seems to be ok, hopefully if anything, only some tips will be hurt. I had a brand new Porterweed (2 of them) on my porch. They were wilty looking but after bringing them inside they have perked up. It looks like just some tiny edges of that got bit. I almost thought it would have been better if I hadn't seen it, then I wouldn't have been so panicked. lol
This is my fountain with frozen water and my dirt pile (yay! real dirt!) looking like real mountain, with snow on top.
I, too, went AAAAHHHH, this morning. I arose at approximately 8:20, looked outside, and was astounded to see the huge, white, fluffy, beautiful snowflakes. It snowed about an hour from the time I saw it, and was actually sticking to the ground; thankfully, it turned into rain. I don't believe it ever got to freezing. Wish I had thought to take pictures, but I just noted it in my journal.
I knew it had snowed in the Panhandle but, heard about this till now. This no way to be welcoming the butterflies and hummingbirds! No snow here but, it didn't get out of the 40s yesterday.
Wow! We had snow on Easter Sunday in Chicago, but in Texas? Well as they say Texas is full of surprises. I hope no one's plants were hurt.
Im so glad that mess stopped before it got here! I have way to much out at this point to even think about how to cover it all.... welcome to Texas right?
I guess it was just us south of FtW. I know it was snowing in Grandview too. Lucky us! I will go inspect things tomorrow, but so far things look ok. Yay!
And I was complaining about our cold spell. It just doesn't compare to snow and frozen fountains. Thing is, I had already stored the electric heater from the greenhouse in the barn and was too tired to go get it. We spent all day Saturday digging out Yellow Thistle before it spreads any more.
