Well, I was going to put the rooted brug cuttings in water today but they are now a science experiment. What you are looking at are tadpoles for the Pacific treefrog. We have had frogs singing madly for awhile but I did not realize that the brug cuttings had become a new ecosystem. I have been watching for mosquito larva, not TADPOLES! I guess I had best start a few more cuttings cause these are going to the frogs LOL!

Frogs are Us!! Won't Be Transplanting Today!
I really do not know. It says 2 1/2 months to hatch but I have no idea how long these have been there. I am sure that DD will keep us posted on their development lol. I have never raised tadpole in a cat litter bucket before but I suppose there is a first time for everything. It is a happy year for frogs this year because we have actually had rain. Unfortunately, the snails and slugs are happy too.
Oh my!! How interesting. Life at work! And all those white nubbies! Maybe you will have nice roots by the time they hatch out, and still be able to plant up the cuttings.
Is that ever cool! They must have trusted you to let you babysit for them. Keep the pictures coming.
:) Donna
I love it when something new and different is brought up on this forum. I've heard of brug moms, but this is totally different.
Wow !
How cool is that ?
Thanks for sharing baby frogs with us frogs.
*/;-)
The tadpole container has been moved to the shade. Do not want to boil the babies. I found 2 containers with tadpoles (so far) so I guess I am the babysitter. I was talking about getting fry food to feed them and I thought that Dh was going tto split a gut laughing.
Shelly, the gal that was supposed to get the rooted cutting will get this one instead. I do not think she will complain. Lol. These are from a plant that I have so I can sacrifice them for science.
Oh wow! LOL I wouldnt think she could complain!
She better not complain....lol.
:) Donna
Wow Frogs, you have very nice lenticels AND tadpoles. LOL
They've been telling us for years now that fryed food isn't good for us, and now we're feeding it to tadpoles.................LOL...heehee...snort..snort
That is amazing Frogs and great pictures.
Molly
:^)))
OK
Is that mom or dad???
LOL
It's the mother....she was not holding still.....Dad would be sitting doing nothing....
BTY, Where was your bucket that the frogs got in?
Left the babies with the sitter and RAN lol.
See the picture of the brug going to a new home? It was right beside it at the edge of my patio. I had another one on the walkway on the west side of the house. The patio is hanging plant haven and the frogs hang out there. Truthfully, they hang out everywhere. But they are fond f their homes above the ground. The "ponds" have been moved so the water temp does not get too high.
Happy
ROTFLMAO!!!!!!!!
Very cool, Frogrus. That must be so cool to have all those frogs "hanging around". Hehehe. I hope to see more pictures.
I will show that to my grands, they will love it, as I do, we have tons of frogs, even a while back when there was talk of frogs thinning out. I really enjoy the bright green tree frogs, they are really cute. Last year I had tomato kits with a reservoir full of water in the bottom and the tree frogs loved it, they sunned on the brugs, then would hop down and into the water to cool off, then back to the brugs. I hope they return this year. I can't wait until yours hatch...

Have you named them?
Flopsie, Mopsie, Cottontail, Peter, Mannie, Moe, Jack,....... lol.
They lay about 70 eggs at a time. I named 2 kids-that was enough for me. I am sure DD will name the survivers.
Them's are rabbts names, ya know.......not ribbits......
Alright, alright but it is Easter after all. Lol!
OOOOOHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
That is just too cool! I'd be so excited.
What a funny frog thread. Hope all the babies make it . I will soon have frog/toad eggs in my smaller lily pool, I see them in the bottom of the pool mating. We hurried to get the pool clean and the plants moved before they start laying eggs. Sure is fun to watch the tiny tadpoles in the pool, they just cover the sides. DonnaS
I lust for frogs.
too cute.
forgrus, I'm green with frog envy! Please put them on the next plane to San Leandro - I have plenty of algae up here for them to eat. LOL I'm trying to get some frogs for our pond so am going nursery hopping tomorrow to some water garden nurseries to, hopefully, find some treefrog tadpoles. The pond store only offers bullfrog tadpoles. I've found a lot of salamanders in my garden, but no frogs yet!
Trig,
Go out at night and sneak around looking in hanging baskets and such. That's the way I always found them. Stick my face in the planter and they jump out at me.
Sure gets my attention. Makes me giggle just to recall it.
Molly
If I remember correctly, we had California tree frogs whee I lived in Hayward rather than the pacific tree frogs. The look like small bull frogs rather than so smooth. I would recommend the bullies as pets. I have had several and they are fun. A sign of spring when they come out of hibernation. I even had an albino once. Looked alot like a mini plucked chicken.
We have the Greenhouse Frog (about the size of a nickle) and he chirps and signs:and the Coqui who puts up the most awful racket...they are a plague on the islands, can't talk on the phone at night while the males call. Then we have the Cane Toads from Australia which are poisonous...and puppies love to bite them: seems they get high on the toxin.
I'll keep the first one...
That's so neat!
That is too funny a mini plucked chicken. I can picture it and it would look exactly like that.
I would love to see one of those. Did you get a picture?
Remember the mom who sold the right to name her baby on ebay and got 15,100 dollars?
Well you would have nothing to lose. Actually you might get rich. Just a thought.
Congratulations mom on your new additions.
Blessings,
Sandy
