Fast Forward 2 Months

Northern California, CA

This is one of the reasons I love succulents....what other plants just keep on being beautiful for so long and during every season.

Back on Jan 30th I posted a picture of this Bryophyllum and here it is again two months later just being gorgeous.

This was late January.

Ok, I'll take it. :) What is it's whole name? I think I'll add it to my wish list (the one I use to annoy the folks at the garden stores). I need to branch out a bit from my world of prickly pear, lol!

It's beautiful, Happenstance! You'd never see anything like this here.

That is just great! And I am most impressed with the empty shelf in the background! How is it possible to have a completely empty plant shelf? Harold

It's transitioning from a winter storage area to a summer shade area. I store big pots of perennials there in the winter, move them out and put all the Begonias, ferns, Bromeliads, Christmas Cactus and such in for the summer.

Lots of work moving everything twice a year, but necessary when one is in complete zone denial. :-)

I also had to move everything to lower the hanging baskets of Epis, Rhipsalis.......just too hard to water up that high without getting the ladder out. The plan is to put the baskets on a drip line, but I had that plan last year and never got to it.......must put that on my to do list....again!

Jen - This one is Bryophyllum 'Wendy'
There is also a coral colored one that I use as a ground cover called 'Tessa'

You may see it in hanging baskets in nurseries, where it could also be labelled as a Kalanchoe. I've just gotten some small cuttings of Bryophyllum gracilipes (syn Kitchingia gracilipes, Kalanchoe gracilipes) which is one of the parents of the girls. Will try to get a photo as soon as it perks up a bit.
