Be on the "Look Out" for Seeds

(Zone 7a)

I have aquired countless amounts of seeds from Weezingreens to distribute. Some of the seeds have been harvested some years ago. For the most part.. I can look at a seed and tell if it's viable. Therefore I will be going through all the seeds. To make sure they look good. I wont be dechaffing any seeds. Although these seeds look good and the majority contain no chaff. But just in case.. letting you know. I know that all of you want to save on postage. Unfortunately I must make this as easy for me as possible. To be able to share these seeds with you. I will try to post several different seeds on each thread, allowing you to aquire more then one seed type at a time. Please Please remember to add a note of the seeds you request and possibly which thread. I am in the address exchange and expect you to look up my address. Everyone will have to send a $.49 SASBE unless I post "no bubble needed" Thanks so much for all who participate and lets try to make this as simple as possible.
Thanks Kim

I tease Kim because I envy her seed starting ability. I am trying but I seem to kill more than I create !

In an effort to empty my seed box and start over new...I traded out almost all of my seeds I saved last year. Then I started everything else I had (and actually tossed a bunch- :O ). My older seeds came up faster than my newer ones and even quicker than some of my just purchased ones. Maybe the 3-4 years of storage tricked them out of dormancy. LOL

Seward, AK(Zone 3b)

Maybe they saw you booting out all those other seeds, and decided they had one last chance to procreate, Badseed! Yes, I've had pretyy good luck wiht older seeds myself. Like you, I've started trying to use up the older ones or give them away. I've been trading off some of the newer seeds if I have lots of them. I sow seeds indoors, so it doesn't take as much to get lots of plants. A teaspoon of tiny seeds goes a long way!

The seeds I've sent Kim came from Ceeads stash. She puts me to shame when it comes to seed collecting. Most of her seed is clean and well-stored. She lives in a sunny spot that produces nice ripe seed, too. As Kim says, some of it's older, but, I've been using seeds from her stash for years, and I've had pretty good luck with it.

Ceeads seeds look good! Some people get an attitude about what year they're from..So I just let them know. But my older seeds always seem to germinate better then the recently picked seeds. I've had seeds for 7 years and they still germinate.

Kim,
In re older seed: AMEN!!
When FIL used to have a BIG veggie garden, he would store the large bags of left-over seeds in an outside storage shed. It had huge fluctuations in temps and moisture. Heck, it doesn't even have doors on it. No special storage of seeds whatsoever. He had old seeds and they always germinated well for him.

My late Granny who was frugal [read cheap, God rest her soul] didn't believe in planting too thick and then thinning them out, so she always had flower seeds left over from year to year.

I think us modern folk try to make it harder than it really has to be - LOL!!
Nature is much more resilient than we like to think it is.

So Kim, when ya gonna post some more goodies for us- he he he!
We'll give ya some slack for a few days since tomorrow IS Easter, but after that ya gotta come up with the goods!!
Seriously, I hope you and yours have a blessed Easter!

P.S. Our Lil fat boy is doing beautifully!!
