I think you can count on it NOT snowing Lynn. Last frost date is right now around here and Victoria is warmer. I can't ever remember snow that late. Now, having said that, you Victoria people don't prove me wrong. Think WARM.
Today is ther first real wind and rain storm we've had in a long time. It's blowing branches down all over the place. Hopefully there won't be anymore house slides, or mud slides. It's usual winter weather for us, but we've had very little of it. Hopefully the system will blow and rain itself out by next Thursday at the latest.
I'd still be in bed this stormy Saturday morning, if dogs could be litter trained.
LInda, I'd still be in bed too, and I don't even have a dog!!!! Woke up early this morning and couldnt' go back to sleep, so am trying to work on my computer with a very slow internet connection !!!! It's often hard to tell around here just how windy it is, as we are down in a bit of a hollow. But looking up at the tops of the trees, they are moving qround quite a bit, and the rain is coming down in buckets!!!
Our neighbours were supposed to get a driveway poured this morning but I guess that won't happen!
Enjoy your day!
Glenda
Calling all weather gods....I'll take the snow that was planned for Victoria. We're not quite done skiing yet ;-) Or better yet, send it somewhere where they need more moisture than we do.
I'll be watching EC and the Weather Channel for you guys. That EC site sure gives a lot of choices for the lower island.....Linda, would you say your place is closest to Victoria, Victoria (Hartland), Victoria (University of), Victoria Harbour or Esquimalt? :-)
Please keep us up-to-date on the type of clothing we will need to bring with us.
Shannon, Linda would be closest to the Univeristy of Victoria. Just a hop skip and jump away for her!
Glenda
Cool - thanks, Glenda. Here's the link to EC's site:
http://www.weatheroffice.ec.gc.ca/city/pages/bc-66_metric_e.html
Looks way too warm for snow.
That's the site where I get my wheather info from Shannon.
It looks like my earlier predictions of shorts weather won't quite cut it. I'm sure most of you have some sort of duck boots...
A reminder though. If you are coming from a 'dry' cold area, be prepared to dress warm and in layers. If you're not used to the dampness it can cut right through you. I remember when I was working in Yellowknife, and came here for Christmas. I was going from -30 to +6, but I felt the cold more when it was +6, because of the dampness.
Butchart Gardens supplies umbellas.
Every one think sun for the w/e.
This one shows a bit of rain but it does say light rain so maybe it won't happen at all. I am praying for no rain. Joelle

If it's gotta rain, hopefully it will be April showers so that at least we get some sunny breaks.
Thanks Joelle......very light drizzles would be nice.
I'll do a Sundance for all of you! Elaine...............here goes!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Better dance a little faster Elaine, it's pretty bleak here. lol
I was just at my Dr.s and there, downtown it was sunny. 1/2 way home (about 15 min) it was really dark, and here at home, we are having a rain shower with sun.
I think it must be April...
ummmm, I suggest ya pack shoes that are waterproof or at least not good ones that you mind if they get wet. Most of the nurseries are covered, and Butchart's provides umbrella's.
3 more sleeps and you'll be here!!!!
Ginny comes into town today, I'll here from her later today.
I feel soooo looooenley.......
I'm still here echoes! :) Ginny will be along shortly.
echoes, I was going to wait, but just for you, I'll start the thread today. I'll post the link here once I get it started.
It's too bad, you couldn't come along as well. And ceedub, And Roselaine, And Liz, And spklat and and and....
Awww...I know, and I've still got pickle here.
We'll sure miss you guys! :(
yes echoes we sure will miss Ginny,
Hey! What am I chopped liver?
(((((Joelle)))).......... we still love you!
For sure not chopped liver, although I am rather fond of chopped liver. I was just thinking more locally Joelle.
LOL, Joelle, you can't imagine how hard I was trying to think of more names when I was typing above about the ones we'll miss. My mind went blank, hence the and, and, and,
I'm sad to say, here's the latest forecast:

The weather isn't what will make your get-together fun or spoil your fun. But wouldn't you know, eh.
Quick, everyone head to WPG for the sun!
Really, eh. But of course, if we'd have planned to have the RU in Winnipeg this weekend, it would have been a blizzard with highs of -20, right? Don't everyone give up yet. This is only Wednesday. It's been my experience that the forecast can change at least 3 times by the weekend. Never say die!
Off to work today. Have a good one everybody.
For sure it will change every few days. Still remember the snowstorm we had April 7 in 97. It looks very gray and dirty as the last of the snow melts in the city. I have a few Coral Bells and Dianthus poking out so I see green! Will keep fingers and toes crossed that you have some real nice weather.
The sun is shining and not a cloud in the sky today!!!! Things could be looking up for you people coming to the RU!!!!
Glenda
Oh I hope so Glenda.........been looking at the weather channel, an awful lot lately ;), and keep seeing another huge system moving in.
nice day here in Wpg, hens and chicks are peeking out,
put some of my plants out in my cold frame/mini green house with heat,
Wilma
Gorgeous and hot here too.....snows almost all gone. Ü Been watching the geese follow their old migration route and the Golden Bald Eagles are back and being harrassed by the smaller birds. Don't care about rain.....picked up a couple of pairs of duckie shoes/rain jacket (almost forgot what they are for) and will search for the rarely seen (on the prairies....except for last year) umbrellas tonight.
We had a nice day here today too. Good thing, as I was outside for 7 hours, potting plants and pricing shrubs. Coral Bells...Brenda, I will see them in my sleep tonight. Must have cleaned up 50 pots of them today. All Sprouting like crazy too.
Must have lived in the wrong part of the Prairies for 50 years. Sure needed a brelly lots in Edmonton.
