I need to build a gate for the entrance to my back yard from the side of the house. I have put it off for several years, because I feel frozen with indecison about how and what to install. It doesn't have to be especially heavy duty, it just needs to be able to keep neighborhood dogs out, and it would be nice to have a little privacy, too.
I would like it to be just a little "special", though. Below is a picture of an iron piece I bought for another purpose, but thought I might be able to use as a part of the gate design. Anyone have any ideas? It wouldn't have to involve the iron piece.
I think this iron piece (which looks to me like a miniature iron gate) used to be a sort of window in an old Mexican door. It's approximately the height of my purse and strap... Oh, you probably want actual measurements. Okay, about 16" high, 9 or 10 " wide. The opening that the gate has to cover is roughly 5 1/2 feet wide, brick wall one one side, end of the side fence on the other.
