now what? I've had the stick for a few months now and its now put out 3 leaves....its still on my kitchen counter and i'm clueless as to what to do next. This is my first plummie
Please dont let me kill it ; )
I have leaves....
congratulations! please post pictures.
i have three cuttings that haven't rotted yet. i'm crossing my fingers they won't get soggy...
MsJen, I'm assuming you have it potted in a container and sitting in a kitchen window? I would put it outside in the sunshine during the day and bring it in at night. Soon you will be able to put it outside and leave it there to grow.
Moonglow, hopefully you have them potted in an excellent draining mix and are keeping them dry, dry, dry until they start showing leaves, right? Bottom heat is a huge help to the rooting process so setting them outside during the day on hot concrete will help the rooting process right along.

It hasnt seen the kitchen window, lol.....its been stuck in the corner by the mixer. Guess thats not a good place for it?
I'll put it outside tomorrow before i leave for work. I must be doing something right tho if it has leaves? Good thing it likes dry soil because i sure forgot to water it, lol
MsJen, if it is starting to get leaves, then give it a little water and some Superthrive if you have it. The leaves will grow quickly with a little sunshine and fresh air. At this point, you could probably leave it outside for the spring and summer, but just to be on the safe side, I would bring it in at night until the beginning of May. Once nighttime temps are above 50 degrees, it is safe to leave it outside all night. Newly rooted cuttings are the most susceptible to rotting, especially if the soil is kept wet and then a cold front come through. Mine are still in my portable greenhouse also.
thanks, clare! these last three are from that same batch of cuttings i got from kauai last october.
i planted them in cactus mix. i'll check on them tomorrow and review the link you sent. thanks so much!
