condition of purchased cutting

I need advice. I purchased a Creamsickle cutting on ebay. I was a tad disappointed when it arrived as it was not as big as the similar ones featured on the auction page. However, I realize that some of the larger leaves were removed for shipping. I just thought it looked puny-it does seem to have decent roots. I expressed my concern nicely to the seller and at first he was very nice and said he would "make it right" if it didnt thrive. Now, after thinking about it- he sends another email saying that brugs grow at different rates-he is not God (as he doesnt know how soon it may thrive) and didnt I get it at a good price. Which kinda ticks me as I was very nice about my problem. Now honestly, what do you think? I paid $7.50. I put it in the pot in the photo.

I would have been very disappointed as well. I've had both good and bad luck on eBay. You could have probably gotten a very well rooted start with a lot of growth from Logees or Kartuz. Also, I've been looking for a particular Brug and I found this site. Was impressed with the size and fullness of the plants on this site as well as the price. .

I didnt want to over-react but after I got the second email from the guy it kinda ticked me off.
I'm scared to buy anymore. For me, $7.50 is nothing to be thrown away :)
thanks for the site link.

I'd like to have Creamsickle and Maya someday. She has some nice photos.

You may think I'm terrible, but I don't think $7.50 was a bad price. It looks like a cutting above the Y, so should be blooming this summer(if it lives). Don't overwater it!

Whoever "he" is, doesn't sound pleasant to deal with! Sure hope it grows.

Charlotte, it's bigger than what I got for $20 from a Brug Grower.

Charlotte, Looks good for a rooted cutting.

The roots are very important at this stage and leaves are not.

Just don't over water her and the leaves will come back in no time.

Beats me why some EBayers are so grumpy with their customers.

Oh well, just hang out with us and you will find plenty of cuttings from those you know you can trust here.

I think it will be okay. Most of mine look this way this time of the year. 7.50 was a good price for this brug.

Thank you all, that is why I posted here with a photo and did not list the seller's name.
I honestly didnt know if I should have been upset. I purchased 2 cuttings- the other one was a non registered brug that I only paid 3.50 for so I didnt expect much.

I dont want to get ripped off but I dont like to "go off on a toot" and falsely accuse folks either ! I have received another email from the buyer so maybe he is still interested in trying to help me.
I will take care of her and hope for the best.
thanks

I'm new to brugs myself and the 2 I ordered from Logee's looked about like yours when they arrived (maybe a couple of extra leaves...) I immediately repotted into 8" plastic and those babies are growing so stupendously I had to repot again into 12" only a month later. They grow like gangbusters! As everyone has said it's the roots that matter, and if the roots are healthy the rest of the plant will catch up in no time. Have faith! ;-D

Charlotte, I would have have been a bit disappointed also. Some sellers sell robust plants. Others smaller. The good news is it will take off for you. Brugs are so rewarding that way. One day they look terrible and the next they are double in size and all leafed out. Good luck with your new babies.

Well, I didnt have a fit with the seller because I realized up front that I might have been expecting too much. Thats why I asked an opinion here and didnt post the sellers name. I'll surely keep her and hope for the best. I've also had a couple offers if needed. thanks everyone .

I would have been disapointed with that plant...but as many have said it should survive. Just watch who you get plants from..some do sell quality plants while other...........???

My problem was that the cuttings was supposed to be "similar" to the ones in the photo but it didnt look "similar" to me :) :) Dont think I'll be buying any more cuttings regardless.

Charlotte, this fall, you should be able to get all the free cuttings you need or want from members here. The variety is beyond your wildest dreams and generally the cuttings are thumb size or bigger. Some of them are even from the trunk, so you can imagine how big around they are. Over all, you won't be disappointed getting cuttings in the fall.

I agree with Brugie.. lol just hang in there if you can fall will be here before we want it to be.

For the price, considering it's a y cutting, I think you probably did better than most, it will flower sooner than other cuttings do, some folks sell their y cuttings for more money than that. We're you the only bidder on that brug, did it start off at that price? Alot of brugs that travel through the mail end up being a wilted mess on their arrival. but More times than not, they come back with flying colors if just given some time. not over watering it, letting it dry between waters. I'm no expert by no means. But that's what I would do. I wouldn't throw it away unless it started rotting. It should do fine for you with time.

I too agree with brugie, I got 95 % of my 60-65 brugs from trades or SASE's bought very few of them. Fall is a really good time to get free cuttings.
