I live in the Panhandle of Florida and am wondering if anyone knows of rock quarries close to Fort Walton Beach or Pensacola? I would like to get a few tons of gravel and stone to border my pond. We are unfortunate here in not having a quarry near, or at least any that I am aware of. Buying rock at the local roadside shops is just too expensive. Places here charge between $170 to well over $1000 per ton depending on the rocks. I have hard of people going to a quarry and getting several tons for less than $200. I would like to do this as well. I would greatly appreciate any suggestions.
Rock for my pond
Our soil here is mostly sand. (beach=sand)! Head to the north! The cost of rocks and stone here is for shipping! I have friends who bring rocks back from...TN. I think that state is made of rocks!!!

I know what you mean about the cost. I bought a ton and a half of Arizona river rock from the rock place in Niceville. I think it cost me about 600 bucks. There is a quarry near Huntsville Alabama, at least one in Georgia, and there are some white rock quarries further south than us, in the Jacksonville and Miami area.
rylaff, Sure wish I could send you some of my extra rocks!!!!!!!!!!!! I think it is on the photo forum that trois explains how he makes rocks. Look great too. DonnaS
I have made some rocks myself for the garden area but I dont like concrete around my pond since I have fish in it. I am always worried about lime leeching in and killing the fishies.

You might be more successful than I with a search. But this should get you started.
Thank you all for your help and advice. I may have to rent a truck and hit highways. I am not too sure of using concrete near the pond myself. I do not want to risk injury to my fish.

Hey, Andre! You've got mail!
Hey Jen
You are a godsend. I enjoyed looking at all the links that you provided me with. Gail and I are looking forward to the "Roundup" this weekend. It was too bad that we has so much rain over the weekend. I really wanted to spend some time repotting my lilies. Maybe I'll have enough sunlight after work this week to get repottiing done.
