Brugs and Ph

Gratiot, WI(Zone 5b)

Could anyone tell me whether Brugs prefer Acidic, Alkaline, or Balanced Ph soils? The reason I ask is I've just read that you can use used coffee grounds as a slow released Nitrogen fertilizer BUT it acidifies the soil. BUT (AND this is GOOD NEWS) they do a very good job of controling Slugs, Snails, AND FUNGAL GNATS!!!

I thought people might like to know this but I'm wondering about the acidity. Thanks to anyone who answers!!!

I am certainly no expert, but we have alkaline soil and water, think they like a little towards the acidic side. I am working on that.

I think whether extra Nitrogen would be of benefit would depend on what the PH of your soil or potting mix that they will be growing in is.
I believe Monika told us a while back that 6.5 - 7.5 is the best PH for Brugs. If I'm wrong I'm sure she will correct me.

Whenever I tested my brugs' soil pH, whether potted or planted in the ground, it was always more acid - the lowest reading was 5.0. Although they looked OK and were leafy & green, I got more blooms and they put on more growth when I adjusted to a more neutral pH by adding lime.

6,5 - 7,0 is optimal, 6,0 and 7,5 will be tolerated.
