Here's my stinky bloom, lol

Deep South Coastal, TX(Zone 10a)

I saw Shirley's and that reminded me that I took a pic of mine.
I was out in the garden Sunday, saw a buzzard flying over the edge of my yard, right by the fence. I kept wondering what he was after. Then I went out to water and saw this flower. I went in and told Lauren to come out and smell this pretty flower...... she's not talking to me now.
The caracara was out in the field last evening, he's another carion eater, but prettier than a buzzard. By the time I got the camera, he was gone.

I saw that, lol. Your's is prettier than mine!

Cedar Key, FL(Zone 9a)

OK
one of us has to send the other pollen so we get seeds...LOL
NOT ME!!!

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

Yours is so short. Must be that good Texas warmth. Looks good. Is Lauren talking to you yet?

Harrisville, MI(Zone 5b)

Mine is in the ground,I hope it makes it,sure looks like you gals are doing good with yours!

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

I hope yours makes it too. Anna told me today to definitely dig it because it wouldn't make it if left in the ground. I was curious about how the bulbs had survived in her cold area and she said that the woman's who gave them to us has a husband that digs them for her every year. Nice guy. Jim's hands have never fit the shovel handle.

Deep South Coastal, TX(Zone 10a)

Yeah, she's talking to me but refuses to go near the flower bed. It smells like a dead rat out there, lol.
I worried about my bulb when we had the freeze and I tried to find it that day, but was afraid I'd damage it by digging, so I put about a foot of straw over the whole area. I was really happy to see it come back.
CC, how do I collect the pollen? I wonder how long I can hold my breath? There were flies out there too and some kind of big green stick like bug.

Grass Lake, MI(Zone 5a)

Poor Lauren ... does it smell a long distance away?

Deep South Coastal, TX(Zone 10a)

No, you have to get within 6 ft to notice it and then it's not too bad. I think it being in the open air helps.

Hillsboro, OH(Zone 6a)

Nice perfume Susie, really. :)

They sure are cool to look at, guess they have to be since they smell like rotten meat. LOL

Harrisville, MI(Zone 5b)

You girls don't know how much this is making me laugh!! Told ya!!

Deep South Coastal, TX(Zone 10a)

I bet you are getting a good laugh Root. I'm gonna send you a sticker bush just for laughing!!(I'll label it some kind of rare tropical so you will grow it)

Murrells Inlet, SC(Zone 8a)

No fair you guys are getting them to bloom already. They won't bloom for me here until about mid May.

Cedar Key, FL(Zone 9a)

I got up close and it does stink
but the stink is from the inside
There looks like there is pollen in there

Deep South Coastal, TX(Zone 10a)

Wait a day or too Karyn, mine smells the whole side yard up today. I forgot about it and walked outside and thought "what died out here?" and then remembered my flower. I guess I could go check for pollen if I can find the Vicks to put under my nose.

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 4a)

To funny....lol! I wonder what your neighbours thinks of the smell.....lol.
:) Donna

Cedar Key, FL(Zone 9a)

I wonder if you can self pollinate or if you need another one???

I potted it up and threw it in the GH
now I'm scared to go out there......

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

I was spared again today. If I can get through tonight, I'll be able to put mine outside without worry of frost for a few days. With my luck, it will be open in the morning in that little 8x10 ft. greenhouse and the air will be horrible.

Harrisville, MI(Zone 5b)

;0) !

Deep South Coastal, TX(Zone 10a)

There was a buzzard circling my yard yesterday. He kept coming back, couldn't figure out why he could smell a dead aminal and couldn't see one I guess.

New Iberia, LA(Zone 9a)

LOL so funny this thread! I think I want one! LOL.. We have full of buzzards here daily! They would go after that. If I get one, I wont tell anyboby until they say they smell dead around here. lol..

Spokane Valley, WA(Zone 5b)

So what is the name of this plant that ya'll are so... umm... appreciative of? As a tropical, I'm pretty sure I won't find it growing out in my yard, but just in case I'm ever tempted to buy one for indoors... ;)

Ewing, KY(Zone 6a)

How does the dog act around it Susie?

Deep South Coastal, TX(Zone 10a)

He wanted to roll on it! He was so funny, he walked out with me and started sniffing. When he found the flower he was confused, but kept sniffing. When I saw that he was going to squish the flower, I pulled his leash and made him come back to me. He kept wanting to go back and investigate that stinky smell.
It's all gone now, all shriveled and collapsed but I noticed the Voo-doo lilies starting to put up little sprouts. They are smaller and not as stinky.

Tulsa, OK(Zone 7a)
