In just 3-6 weeks, you'll be enjoying fabulous tulips in your garden, patio containers or even on your windowsill indoors.
INSTANT???
Insta Bloom my foot. I had to read just what they was doing. You to can have insta bloom at your house and it won't cost ya $12.99 either.
As someone who has forced hudreds of tulips and daffodils out of season, I would just about bet they have done the same thing as me.
Take your bulbs put them in the fridge for 10 weeks. The bulbs go to sleep and after that you can wake them back up again. You can bloom your tulips and daffodils every 10 weeks if ya want all year long. Of course depending on where ya live like me when it hits 90 something in the middle of sumemr they wil turn to mush if not in total shade.
But it nice to bloom tulips at Thanksgiving and Christmas if ya want. : )
My guess is they are doing the same thing. Putting them in cold chill and the new wrap is probably some sort of insulated poly to help keep them cool a bit longer til ya get them and can plant them.
Thanks for the giant chuckle Srkrause! I gonan have a giant laugh with other growers tomorrow! : )
I've been told not to store bulbs for forcing in the fridge if there are any fruits in the fridge, as the gas given off by the fruits will kill the bulbs. Any truth to this?
My bulbs are already in the pots and in fresh soil when I put them in the fridge for forcing. There usually isn't fruit hanging in my fridge for more than a day or so.
As soon as fruit is picked it starts to decompose and certain fruits give off more ethylene gas than others. If there is any truth? I am not totaly sure. If you had say green pepers or cucumbers or potatoes that were starting to go bad and you kept them in there, then it might effect it. I have never had a problem.
Thanks! Sounds like I probably shouldn't use the little fridge we fill with apples in the fall..... but I might try a pot of Christmas tulips or something next year. I didn't even consider potting them before chilling them, but that might work better too.
