CLOSED: Dinner Plate Dahlias

Cary, NC(Zone 7a)

Hello,

I'm looking for some dinner plate dahlias and am willing to trade a selection of items, cannas, daylillies, roses, irises, etc. If you have some please let me know.

Thanks.

If you don't get what you want from trading, check out Lowe's and Home Depot. The stores here have tons. I thought about buying a bunch and seeing if someone wants to split them. I am a one of each kind of gardener. LOL

I garden like you do, Michele. I love the variety. I have wintered over some dahlias from last year, but they aren't dinner plate variety.

Hello,

Thanks for the information. I bought cannas at Lowe's and was pretty disappointed, several were rotted so I returned them and succumbed to Brent and Becky's Bulbs as they are part of the DG Watchdog and they had several dinner plate varieties.

Badseed,
I will split with you! I can trade the Seattle Dinnerplate and Hawaii tubers right now. Got em from Lowes and are in great shape. Peter, I can trade if you have any dwarf cannas too. Lemme know.

Hi Peter,

I am very sorry to hear that. Growing a lot of things, as I have, at least once, LOL, I tend to pick up the pkgs, shake all the fluff away from the bulbs and give them a good viewing. It is not a perfect system but it has allowed me to see dried up bulbs, moldy bulbs, fungus gnats, etc. When I find something not healty, I find the plant mgr or store mgr and make it well known. I did battle with them a year or so ago and even with Jackson and Perkins because they were selling Colocasia esculenta as uprights. It really irked me! Of course there is no sure way to tell the bulbs apart and I didn't find the mislable until after they grew out some leaves. I was not happy!

Horn's sends out really nice canna and their prices are quite reasonable.

Stv, let me look those up and write back to you. I'm on a feed the baby break and need to go run some more tropicals out of my garage before my hubby leaves. LOL

Oh, I also forgot to add that I have also purchased really nice dahlias from samsclub. I want to get another Kevin Floodlight one of these days. It was gorgeous! So is Mystery Day. For now, all I have is seed for dahlias that I have in my greenhouse.

Stv,

Thanks, I have about eight dwarf cannas and would love to trade for the Seattle and Hawaii. Please let me know.

Thanks,

Peter

I am drooling over Hawaii, it is truly lovely, I think I need to order it from Park's lol. They sent me a 10% off coupon today, they must have known I had to have it!

Joseph, OR(Zone 5a)

Parks is out of it, no more Hawaiis from them. Try Lowes if you have one available to you.

Peter, what is the variety of canna that you have?

Sob! So I just found out! Now I have a new mission! DH will just loooooove you all for this.

Hillsboro, OH(Zone 6a)

Stv, those are both lovely!
If you only have enough to split with one, feel free to take the yankee up on his offer. LOL What I mean is, don't let me hold you back. When I get out and get what I can find, I'll let you know. :)

Joseph, OR(Zone 5a)

Badseed,
I'll wait for Peter to write back k. I have two Seattles so I can only part with one of those, but I have three Hawaii's..... Cool, new Dahlias, too exciting!

Cary, NC(Zone 7a)

Stv,

I have three different Cannas - Rosemond Cole, Durban, and Brandywine. Please let me know what you think.

Thanks,

Peter

Ah Peter! I was looking for some dwarf yellows, like Lucifer. Got anything like that?

Cary, NC(Zone 7a)

Stv,

I only have two Lucifers and they are both in a barrel in the front yard. My apologies for the delay, I seem to have misunderstood.

Thanks and please trade with another from DG.

Hey Peter,
No misunderstanding at all. I am just being particular about what colors will go in my garden. If I have an extra Hawaii, I will get in touch with you k.

Thanks

Stv,

Thanks! If you let me know what colors you're looking for I might be able to get you something with that color. My garden is just under an acre, mostly roses but I have a bunch of colors, a veritable rainbow of choices.

Peter
