Kauffman: she's supposed to be an "Island Girl".

Ladyblue: Tavares is only about a stone's throw from me. I bet they love it here!

I'm glad there's people out there who understand my excitement! My dear sweet fiancee just couldn't understand why I was jumping up and down, and taking a picture of a plant LOL He's dealing relatively well with my new plant obsession/addiction.

Adrian, MI(Zone 5b)

You certainly live in a good area to be bewitched by this plant!!
It's not as easy in Michigan, Ha!!Enjoy!

Your enthusiasm is contagious, thanks, and welcome!!!!

Goshen, OH(Zone 6a)

Chrissy, it is official you are now hooked on Brugs, your excitement is contagious, after your first sniff of that bud , your brain will be scambled forever and more Brugs will keep coming and coming and then you will have a whole house full. Then you will wonder how did this all get started well from
that first bud that made you fall in love.

So, it's ok that during a hellacious thunderstorm at about 4:00 am this morning, I was at the window pacing? And that I went out in my jammies, with a flashlight to rescue some datura seedlings that I was worried about getting flooded? I think I might need help LOL

Livermore, CA(Zone 9a)

Congratulations Chrissy!! isn't it exciting to see those first buds.

Lewiston, CA(Zone 7b)

Congrats! I just had my first bloom a month or so ago! I can relate to this silly excitement. My DH thought I was going nuts also, just ignore them & enjoy in the excitment of your first bloom! We have all been there, that "First Bloom" giddy-ness! Bj

Harlem, GA(Zone 8a)

Awwwwwwww you go girl! I remember that same feeling, and I know you are just elated to see that cute lil' bud stickin' up! Please post when she opens so we can share in your experience! Congrats

Way to go!

Goshen, OH(Zone 6a)

Chrissy, want a great story about saving you Datura, I think we all have a story or two to tell to what extremes we will go thru for our plants. LOL

JoAnn

Eustis, FL(Zone 9a)

Had to update y'all....I'M IN LOVE!!!! The scent, OMG! As you can see the bloom is as large as the whole plant is. Tagged as "Island Girl". This just now opened, so not sure what the "final" color will be.

Either way, I'm in love. :)

And here's the bloom. Don't mind the bad photography skills, as it's dark out and you can't see in the viewfinder what you're shooting :)

Congrats. I have one in bloom in the house right now that smells wonderful. However, after smelling it for several hours, that might be the reason I have a headache. LOL!

Harlem, GA(Zone 8a)

Oh Cool, so Island Girl is white then!!!! I have 2 that survived from growing them out from seed. Mine are very slow to grow and I mean SLOW....But I love Whites as well as all of the other colors out there :)

Congrats Crissy!!! Thank you for posting a pic of the bloom. She is gorgeous. Do I see a tinge of pink in that face shot? Will you post more pics as the days go on so we can see what the true color will be? Since you're in Florida, my color just may be the same. :)

Oh Joy!!

Julie

Eustis, FL(Zone 9a)

Julie, Will do! In the dark, it seemed a tinge yellow, with a hint of peach? LOL, it was hard to tell by flashlight! I'll have to go home at lunch and check on it. Yes, I am now officially obsessed. ;)

Harlem, GA(Zone 8a)

It is Sheer Bliss!!!!! I am a true brug addict LOL...there's no turning back for me now! hehehe

Julie

I would LOVE to see what Island Girl does in the next 3 days cos' they do change from day to day in color sometimes and especially with climate. It's cool today here in GA. I just walked my Molly, shih tzu and I guess I wouldnt be a candidate for living in a Cold climate state, brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr :)
