worm castings

Any of you use worm casting to fertilize your brugs? Is so, how much to do use in each container.

I don't, but this year I swear I am going to start a worm bin. I have been learning about it over on the rose forum. I can't wait.

I thought I read somewhere that you shouldn't use them in pots. I could definitely be wrong though. It seems I read about it in an Organic Gardening magazine.l

Well...I'm sure folks do use them in pots. Cause some folks use them for houseplants.
But maybe you should be careful to not overdo it. ?

I just got off the horn with the Farm & Seed store in Grovetown, GA...just down the road. He read the list for me that the guy who had made the bags of worm castings made and he said that you use it for potted plants, indoor and outdoors, vegetables, (brugs are related to the tomatoe plant Ive read somewhere) so that makes sense, anything that grows in your yard, roses, hibiscus...etc...so I'm taking it that it's used for everything.

It comes in 1 Gallon Bags (100% pure) for $2.95 per bag. Not bad!

40 lbs of Agricultural Lime stone (Cal & Mag.) @ 3.95/bag

Black Cow with Manure in the mix...
25 lb bag = 3.25
50 lb bag = 4.85
He said this is .5 .5 .5 mixture

Then there's 50 lb bag of Black Cow top soil for $3.79/bag
and 1 cu. ft. bag of Black Cow potting soil (to include vermiculite etc.) more pure for $4.45/bag

I just will probably get the mushroom compost, which is alittle more at 4.99 a 40 lb bag too

Think I'll do this, now gotta go talk to my DH *smile wink*

Yes, and I like the Mr. Mushroom variety of mushroom compost best. I think it works better but maybe it is just the smell :)
