Today we went to the Orchid show at the conservatory,
of course I bought another one, but only a tiny one,
someday it will bloom,
I took many pictures and will post them , but here is a peek of what I saw today.
Orchids
OK, can't wait to see the photos!
I hope you have close-ups with names...they could be entered in the PF section as we can never have too many orchids!
Todd I might have not been close enough
for the names but I can still post them.
I'll admire this thread......no stores here to tempt me! Looking forward to seeing your other pictures Wilma. :)
Beautiful orchids Wilma. It must have been fun looking around at all the displays. Thanks for sharing your pictures.

yes it sure was fun to see what people grow, never seen so many
different one before all under one roof..
sigh..........were many for sale there? This thread has turned dangerous too. Did they have any Phals with big splotches or a red one with a definite white edge?
I was fortunate enough to be able to go to the World Orchid Conference in Vancouver in 1999. It was wonderful to see all the orchids and there were so many booths set up for the orchid venders. You could buy just about anything.
IMCANADIAN Imma thinkin we live in the wrong province ........but we do have lots of sun.
Oh yes there were allot to be bought, there were about 6 different vendors selling their orchids and there were so many kinds to be bought.
I bought a small one called Dendrobium Kingiamum it will flower a light pink, it has tiny flowers.
The lady told me it likes it cool ,and it should bloom in the next 2 years..
Did you see any like the ones I posted above tho? Am wondering if they are available in Canada yet?
The one you purchased sounds lovely.
edited to say ones that look like the second one posted in this link: http://davesgarden.com/forums/t/489495/
I've seen another one too that has more red in it (no blotches) but with very distinct white edging.

I looked it up in our orchid encyclopaedias....it looks lovely Wilma. Both books say it likes to grow in a shallow pot and one says, "does well in shallow terracotta pots with coarse mix". Thought that might be useful when you go to repot in a year or two.
