Very nice indeed!
there was someone form here that asked me to see if get it any clue as to who?
Found it.....it was me..
drooled over these...
H. Glacier Bay
H. Prester John
H. Startle
also
Lilium Tinos
and
Papaver Fornatt Summer (not sure if I'm reading my scribble right)
Who was your Canadian source Shawn?
Wow, that is a beauty!! I can see why you'd be so excited.
It was in this thread we were discussing them: http://davesgarden.com/forums/t/429380/
OK Shawn, where did you find Glacier Bay and how much?
I would like to find that Red Select somewhere too. and that nice red beauty that Donna showed us the other day.
Pam, Lilies in the Valley has Startle again this year. Mine looks pretty true, a brighter red than their picture(it's in my journal)
On second thought, I wonder if this is what Pagan Ritual is supposed to look like. At 55.00 it probably wasn't TC.
http://www.distinctly.on.ca/carr/paganritual.html
Yep that's one of the ones I would be eyeing echoes! ;) One of these days I'm going to have to put some time aside to snoop thoroughly through your journal. :)
C'mon Shawn......we are waiting! :)
It won't take you long. Now I'm thinking I'm not done shopping yet myself. If I could find a real Pagan Ritual (hate that name though), I think I have to have it. And of course if Shawn ever comes back and tells us where he got that Glacier Bay - SHAWN??
Well, the tag on mine looks like that, but maybe a little lighter red. I paid $18.95 for my Pagan Ritual. (I agree, echoes, the name sounds evil, doesn't it?) But it sure is a gorgeous daylily. I have it in my mini greenhouse as we speak, and I may have lucked out becasuse another sprout is coming up on the side of the 10 inch pot. I would also like to get a daylily with the dark edging. They are beautiful too. And of course, I am still not giving up on finding a "Beautiful To Behold" someday. (below)

okay ,i am here now and will let u know how i got my daylily ,after i saw the daylily i called the ontario daylily society and they had no seller in canada so i called some sellers in the states no one would sell me any stating that the photo sinantary cert. that i needed was too much of a pain for them to get so i figured i was up a crick with no padel until the other day when my brothers girlfriend said she has a grandmother in the states and she loves to garden a few phone calls later and i have an address to sent my daylilies to in the states so i found 2 for 6 dollars us each plus 5 dollars shipping i think i made out good what do u think? lilypon next year if the daylily makes it through the winter i will send u one if u would like ,since u found it
You are a lucky guy, Shawn. Don't we all wish we had a brother's girlfriend's grandmother in the states. That's my problem too. The "Beautiful to Behold" Daylily I have been looking for is only available in the States. No Canadian Supplier yet. But maybe someday...
Thank you so very, very much Shawn!! Ü
I forgot to look for that one Donna, now I'll have to go back everywhere I shopped and check. If I find it I'll let you know or get two of them.
OK Shawn, I think I get it. Not sure how these parcels get through customs, but I guess I'm just more chicken about them. I shall patiently wait for someone to have babies to trade, or someone in Canada decides to sell it.
I'm close by echoes! ;)
I know and that feels so comforting.
LOLOL ;).......see your email :)
Thanks Brenda, but I think I have exhausted my search for this one. Even had a very nice American Supplier helping me. But to no avail, I'm afraid. Certainly don't go out of your way to find one for me. But if you should happen accross one, please let me know. I'd appreciate that. :)
Excuse my naivety(and spelling!llol!), why is this one coveted- I know nothing about DL. Is it the colored rim? The ruffle ? What makes one special. Just curious- love the flower!!! Joelle
Not sure its special. It could be, because some like a ruffle with lots of teeth and the wide recurved petals. Different things make them special, performance being pretty important too. I think its a nice pink and I just like it cause its pretty. I don't have to have that one, just give me one just like it.
Brenda is right. I think it's pretty much to everyone's individual taste, Joelle. There's a gazillion Daylilies out there.
Gotcha! ;o)
I've been looking for 'Ed Brown' in Canada for years and finally tracked down a supplier at Arcadian Daylilies...for only $36 (I really have to think about this)
http://www.daylilyheaven.com/edbrown.htm
My best friend is named 'Ed Brown' so that's part of the reason, not to mention that it is a spectaclar daylily. I'm also looking for 'Hot Toddy' (for obvious reasons!) but still can't find a Canadian supplier which is odd since 'Hot Toddy' has been available for years.
old flower girl i will see if i can find one over here
Hokey Smokes, Shawn. I found a "Beautiful to Behold" on the Daylily Heaven link Todd provided, but they want $100 for it. I think I'll be waiting until the price goes down...or they go on sale!

Lilypon - I bought Startle last year at Golden Acres. In fact it was my very first daylily. It is gorgeous and worth getting. When it is big enough I will be happy to share. I see Dominion Seed House has it in their catalogue this year for $13.99. Startle is actually more red than the pink color they show in the catalogue. Here is mine.
Thank you very much Songbird! I'll certainly trade with you......echoes and I have a couple of pending trades going on so would love to receive it from you. Will see which of my plants will be ready for division when yours is.
Todd that is a gorgeous hem with lots of substance, teeth and swirl.
Sure thing lilypon. My startle is coming up as we speak and although it's been snowed on it's looking pretty green. I would have cried (maybe) if that one wouldn't have made it through the winter!
I checked a local greenhouse today that's usually the first to have anything and they had their daylilies in. there are 9 there that I am interested in:
Final Touch
Joan Senior
Moonlit Masquerade
My Reggae Tiger
Pagan Ritual
Mystery Black
Siloam Show Girl
Sabine Bauer
Rosey Returns
They also had a few doubles as well as Purple d'oro.
I'm been looking for a decent picture of My Reggae Tiger but can't find one. Also Mystery Black is hard to find a picture of. I've already searched the plant data base and google.
echoes will be hoping all over Pagan Ritual (I think)......how much are they asking for their daylilies?
Will have to get busy and check out what these look like. :)
Pagan Ritual.......hasn't been entered in PlantFiles but http://www.centrecommons.com/p2005n-l.htm.
Please grab one for me songbird and Mystery Black (if it is supposed to look like Mysterious Black in the link above) but first................. how much are they asking for this beauties?"
I will be tickled pink to get the monies off to you.
(It reminds me of one of the orchids I've been drooling over).
edited to say I'm pretty sure echoes is after this one as well......unless she has it already located (can't remember)
If there is enough in their stock for you then echoes and me.

Brenda (Songbird), do you know if they take mail orders? I've been looking for a Canadian source for Purple d'oro.
Shannon

Got Sabine Bauer last year from Lilies in the Valley.
Songbird do you think their Pagan Ritual is the real thing? Guess the price may tell.

I have a picture of Mystery Black. If you want it just send me your real email address.

Please send it to me echoes I'm curious about that one.
As far as I can tell they are the real Pagan Ritual and the real Mystery Black. They are all just coming up in their pots so all I really have to go on are the plant sticks. All their daylilies are 16.99 but I should double check that. The greenhouse is Golden Acres. They also have one in Calgary, although I don't know if they carry the exact same stock. Calgary probably has more variety as they are a bigger center. I don't think they do mail order, but I can ask. If they don't though, I could grab some for everyone. They have about 9 or 12 of each variety. I'll go back and ask some questions today and I'll also get the names of the other doubles that were there, too. I don't like doubles myself so I usually just ignor them. I didn't realize Mystery Black was a double until I looked it up, but it's so pretty it's almost tempting anyway. So anyway, I'll make a return visit this afternoon and I'll get back to you with more particulars then we can figure out how we're going to do this. I've sent plants through the mail before as I used to have an African Violet mail-order business so I know how to pack them right. They are in tall 8" pots so the boxes will be big so basically will just have to figure postage. I don't mine doing this because sooner or later one of you will find something I'm after I'm sure. My want list is pretty long!
Songbird, could you ask them if their supplier sends tissue cultured varieties, or if they will really look like the pictures on the tags. Sometimes the answer is pretty vague.
What's the difference?
At that price, and if they are true, I definitely want one of both!!
