Dietes bicolor

The Dietes bicolor bloom is a soft creamy yellow. There are several blooms per bloom stalk.

Thanks for your comment. This is the first year it has bloomed after having the plant for about 4 years. I was very excited to see the first bloom open. It is a nice looking plant even when not in bloom.

I have a bed of these. They are quite nice when in bloom. Sort of understated. One of my Bullmastiff sisters, Greta, likes to lay in it unfortunately. After every winter, it still looks fine. Tough plant.

Got a minute? How about a picture of the whole plant? There're a bunch of flower pictures in PlantFiles but only one shows even part of the rest of the plant.

Rwhiz, a whole bed of them sure looks great I bet. I really like them because they are evergreen and can take freezes without being damaged as well as require no special care. I have a couple of big old dogs too. Almost everything in my backyard is in containers, hanging baskets or containers attached to my fence in order for the plants to be out of reach of these plant destroyers. One likes to dig a cool place to snooze and the other one likes to chase squirrels down the fenceline, up trees and anywhere else. He weighs 135 lbs. and I have to be sure the plants are high enough off the ground that when he relieves himself it does not go into the pots! He did manage to jump and land his front paws in the middle of one of these plants and ruined the shape of it. Thanks for your comments.

TucsonJen, I will take a photo of the entire plant and post it as soon as I can. Thanks for pointing out that there are none posted.
