That's a neat one. Almost looks like a snapdragon in a way.

Gorgeous! It does look like a giant snapdragon bloom.

rylaff, I bought one of these last month and it doesn't seem to like afternoon sun, even this early in the year... what kind of exposure does yours get?

beautiful!

This is one of those vines you definitely want growing over your head. I've got mine growing up a post and then along a pipe with a Passiflora vitifolia no less. It's a beautiful vine, but it doesn't diplay well the way I have it.

That is beautiful - thank you for showing us yet another of your beautiful plants!

I have it growing in the shade of the porch.

Keyport, NJ(Zone 7a)

That is a beautiful bloom, rylaff. Doesn't much look like it's kin the common black-eyed susan vine, eh?

Ron, I like that jungly what just fell out of the canopy look. Kinda keeps the flowers for the people who like plants enough to take that closer look.

Any ideas where one could get these? This is a great looking vine - I've been searching for a good one. How "big" does it grow?

Niceville, FL(Zone 8b)

I got mine for a good price from ButterflybyRobyn on ebay. She is also a member here. If you email her, she might have one or can get you one. The one she sent me was quite large and had buds on it. Actually, there were two vines in the pot, so I divided them and gave one to a friend. Two for the price of one.

Logee's has it, Carter, and so does Gardino's: http://www.rareflora.com/thumbergiamy.html These vines are slow-growers but eventually get huge: http://www.californiagardens.com/Plant_Pages/thunbergia_mysorensis.htm

One other thing about this vine. After it attains a certain size, it becomes almost ever blooming. Mine didn't bloom much for the first few years and then boom! It's blooming season in general seems to be Dec-Feb when younger. I also have to pull it out of the trees or it would take over. It's also a 'cleaner' looking vine than the Passionflower that grows with it and hides the legginess that the Passionflower tends to get.

Thanks, Clare!

Sure, Carter.

Thanks, Ron. That is good to know. Mine is just a little thing, but it is in the ground now and starting to grow. I hope it attains some size this season. I too have it growing between two Passifloras.
