Ca anybody tell me how to plant these babies. The directions that came with planting these hibiscus sounds more like somethign for a big plant. It said dig a hole 8-10" wide and deep.
I need to put them in a container for now and since it all looks the same there is no old soil line to tell how deep to plant it or where to stop. Is some of the root supposed to show? On some of the baby ones. The first root doesn't show til about 2" below the knot part?
What is the best mix for puttign them in a container. D they need peat and pine bark added to the soil mix?
Would appreciate some advice. Thanks!
Now what do I do?
Jist found this at http://www.trop-hibiscus.com/gindr.html
The soil in pots is very important. The usual "potting soils" are not recommended. They can be much too heavy and can harden with a few waterings. One recommendation is to use a light soilless mix such as PRO-MIX or Sunshine Mix which is available at most nurseries/garden centers. These are soilless mixtures consisting of perlite, vermiculite, peat moss, with some bark. Jungle Mix, a professional seed starting mix, available from some home/garden centers, also produces good results. Remember that tropical hibiscus do best with very good drainage.
Thanks! : ) I have all those ingredients and I buy the Jungle Mix professional . It works the same as Miracle grow has the same ingredients. Ya get more and it a whole lot cheaper and part of the sales goes to help endangered animals.
Gonna give this a try and cross my fingers.
Can anyone help? I just transplanted a yellow Hibiscus tree from pot into ground. It was doing great in a pot but now the leaves are yellowing and dropping. Any suggestions?
Has anyone ever grown hibiscus from seed?
I didn't think it would be that simple.
Dstarz.......... ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhh love your babies!!!!!!! I can't wait to see what mine gonna do. Appreciate ya sharing the pic. : )
Grace Gardebug. .. I May not know how to plant these sticks , but I totally agree with Dstarz. Yellowign of the leave susually means a nutrient deficeincy and mainly it is Nitrogen. A weak fertizer or dilute some alfalfa pellets and feed it a tea.
Jordung. I sprouted seeds in three days. Had put in tray with soiless mix, covered with a baggy, put in a 80 degree room for three days and had spouts all over the place. : )
