Just fooling around on this cold rainy gray day! Trying to come up with some invitations for a night-time jungle theme dinner I'm giving this summer. LOL
Blue Brugs would be a very good thing, but I think I'll go back to the drawing board tomorrow. :-)
Blue Brugs?
I love your drawing!!! Is it a drawing? Whatever, it's very stricking!! I would like to have it framed and hanging on a wall.
That made a cool picture. Looks like something that would make a good piece of E-stationery.
I'd buy it!! Jeanette
Judy! My drawing? Not a chance, I can't even draw a good stick man! LOL
It's a portion of an image I took this afternoon, through the glass window in the family room as I watched the drizzle coming down from very gray skies. Just fooling around trying to create a night-time jungle feel for some invites.
Thanks Brugie. :-)
I'd buy a Blue Brug too Jeanette!! I'm not so sure about the image.
Wow! Those look so exotic. I love them.
That really does give off the feeling of hot, steamy night time jungle. All you need is a monkey or 2. What date is your fancy doo Candy? We all want to come over!
Well I do have another one with a monkey Kell! Have you been sneaking around my hard-drive??? LOL
Mid-summer....but I thought I'd better get started early since I tend to procrastinate.
Yes it does have that psychedelic '70's kind of feel doesn't it? Or is that psycho-delic?!
Anyway here's another working idea....this monkey is climbing a palm in another part of the jungle and was taken last summer. I do like the way the metal objects stand out. Can you ID any of the other flowers & plants?
Edit: Spelling!

Wow, that's pretty.
LOL. So you have monkeys in your garden? LOL
Looks like my garden after I ate a bunch of morning glory seeds!!
That's neat Candy! I like it!
Fun way to blow an hour when I should have been doing something constructive, but in the light of another day Star Trek comes to mind. This is the only other one I kept, the "tea stained" background reminds me of an old English country home with lots of flowery curtains and pillows that don't match, but somehow work.
And what would you pay for a GREEN Brug with blue and white highlights?!
This is Jungle Brug!
Very colorful pictures of your exquisite garden!
If you grow a blue brug, I'll be in line to buy it!!
Nifty, Candy!!!
Neat pictures, Candy!
Happenstance....those pictures are blowing my mind. What program are you using and what camera did you use?
I am an artist, sumi-i, but loving the computer the way I do, I would love to try my hand at what you are doing. It's unreal. And I don't care what kind of program you use, you still must have A LOT of talent to do what I just saw. You are amazing. You have quite a talent..

Nancy Lee -
I guarantee it is the software, not me. It isn't even fancy, just a basic Adobe product that came with my scanner, and several years old to boot. The image with the monkey was taken last summer with my Nikon CoolPix 995, which recently suffered a drowning incident in Baja while we were cruising. The other two were taken with a loaner I'm testing, the Nikon CoolPix 5400. Again I take no credit for the images.....it's the camera. :-)
Great pictures, Candy. I really like your Jungle Brug. I'm sure your party will be a smashing success. If we're lucky, you'll post some pictures.
Ohhh, love the theme party idea, you must post pics. I can almost piture it, having had the privledge of touring your gardens a couple of times now. Mine is ever evolving as I am enjoying and propagating the cuttings I got from your garden. Already did some shopping and dreaming at the Sf Flower show and cruising the nurseries between the rain showers.
I still say it is the talent that shows through. Thanks for the info
Nancy Lee
Thanks you guys......it's still raining here today and chilly ! Sue I went to the SF flower show on Thurs and came home with some goodies, didn't think the display gardens were as spectacular as in years past, with the exception of the palm garden to the left as you entered the arena.
Speaking of Brugs, since this is the Brug Forum........saw three puny little 4" pots labelled "Pink". That was it as far as Brugs at the show. Heard lots of people commenting that there was lots of "green" this year and not very many FLOWERS! Too true.
Happenstance, did they show a lot of coleus?
Nancy Lee
I don't remember any Coleus......but the place is huge with three halls filled with vendors and it was very crowded on Thursday, which was the second day of the show. Generally the nurseries here don't start bringing out the Coleus in heavy numbers until a couple of months from now.
I did pick up 4 of the "sun coleus" at a local nursery the other day. These are the ones that can grow in FULL SUN even in our hot summer months. I had some last year and they did extremely well, I was amazed at how they stood up to full sun with reflected heat from the brick walkways. These four were from the "Florida Sun" series: Jade, New Orleans Red, Glennis, and Alabama Sun.
Glennis is a really pretty one!

OOOOOOOOOOOOh MYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY. That one's sure a keeper.
I agree Candy, not as impressive this year. The Best In Show was interesting but I felt it focused more on their hardscape, which was nice, and not on plants. I do enjoy seeing the What's New plant section and will be checking for a few things at the April Spring Party at Annie's Annuals.
No coleus there and I am anxiously awaiting their arrival at local nurseries. I will have to check a few other places for the Sun series you mention. Think I noticed a couple at Summerwinds but I already did plenty of damage with purchases this week and resisted...for now.
Those are beautiful photographs!!!
I love your beautiful artwork Candy! It really is pretty. Did someone ask already what program you are using? lol I always have to know that heehe
I need a good, simple photo program, too!!!
let me know if you find it Sherry! I have photo impact 8...I like it but I'm always intrigued by seeing what other programs have to offer. :)
I've posted this info before, but here goes. I have tried MANY versions of Photoshop and some of the other photo editing software packages. I just can't get my little pea brain around the "layers" and other techno babble.
I have always used the very basic, simple software that came with my scanner. It is Adobe PhotoDeluxe Business Edition 1.1 (I think it was first published in 1996), which Adobe stopped publishing sometime in 2002 if I remember correctly. It works for me and I UNDERSTAND it, which is more than I can say for a lot of the other very comprehensive packages available.
All of the images that I have contributed to DG prior to March 1,2005 were taken with a Nikon CoolPix 995, since then a CoolPix 5400. The only enhancements, cropping, color correction, resizing were done with the Adobe product I mentioned above. You can see my images on DG's PlantFiles here:

Whatever will I do if this little gem fails...... :(
Very cool indeed. Thanks for the photos and the info.
