I have somehow managed to kill my peppermint. I ordered this guy online and it arrived healthy. I let it sit indoors under natural light flourescents in the original 2" pot for several weeks. I then replanted in this 6" pot. It seemed ok for another week or so then began to shrivel. The leaves actually appear to be dry but the soil is damp (see picture). I think this guy might be a loss. But does anyone have any thoughts on what I did wrong. I feel like the anti-green thumb here. I killed what should grow like a weed with my tender touch. Thanks.
Dan.
I've killed my peppermint!
hey dan
from the looks of it, it seems you may be battling a couple of things. insufficient drainage and possibly fungus. I was growing peppermint last year and while it was in direct sunlight it did fantastic. I moved it to a shady part of the yard and it just withered away. go figure.
I guess that makes it three battles.

I've had that happen to peppermint I tried to bring in over the winter. I figured I must have neglected it overmuch & let it get too dry, but maybe it doesn't like artificial light or something else about indor living. You may not have killed it completely. Peppermint can come back from even a little piece of root. I'd be tempted to try hardening it off a little and then just planting it outside, see if it returns in spring. You could even try this with just one sprig and try to save the other sprig inside. Good luck!
Goodness, what ever you do, don't go buy more, everybody and their brother has peppermint to share. including me.

I do peppermint inside under Shop lights , and also have had it
under my 150w HPS and 400w HPS and i have great luck with it.
I just water to dampen the soil every few days, one in a great while
i would flush the pot till water comes running out the bottom and then
leave it for a week before i water it again. I have taken cuttings
and rooted them with ease also. I use a aero cloner and it made
tons of roots in 2 days all up and down the stem.
before that plant crokes fully , take a snip off the top and clone it.
PepperMint also like hydroponics.
Take it out of the dirt and throw it in a glass of water for awhile. It'll come back.
