I couldn't come up with an original or eye catching name for this thread.
My DSO was out for a walk today, OFG, (this is probably the walk you'd like to do when you are here) and this is what she came back with, just the photos, she didn't pick anything.
Here's a fawn lily
walk photos
I have never seen "fawn Lilies" before. I am looking forward to that walk to find my own photo treasures. :D
Great pictures,
thanks for sharing....
looks like you had a lovely walk..
Lovely photos Linda. Once again you're ahead of us of course. A few of our Fawn Lilies are sending up flower stems but none are open yet. A few of the trails where I walk the dog have hundreds of Fawn Lilies all along the paths. Most of them are the pink ones and on that Willow Creek trail, that I shared pictures of recently, I haven't seen any white ones at all. I hate to tell you this but the lovely pink flowers in your photo are actually Shooting Stars. They're early too.
We have Shooting Stars and Fawn Lilies here in the garden but none are blooming yet. When the construction started on the street behind ours a number of years ago, Dad and I went out with the shovel and saved a bunch of Fawn Lilies and Trilliums. We have one corner of the garden just for native plants.
Sounds like a nice area of the garden Sandy. And please, always tell me if I've miss labelled something, I'm still relatively new to calling flowers by the correct names.
Linda
Okay Linda. They're lovely, I love Shooting Stars. I bought one plant a few years ago for my mom and now we have several plants in three spots. They're really easy to grow. Last year I collected some seeds from one of the plants and I'm trying to get them to germinate.
Alas I have lost all the erythronium and dodecatheon I planted. Too wet, I think. Watch out for my trowel! Just joking--I don't want to be the first plant poacher in jail. So unsophisticated.
that's ok gals.....should it be jail, just send her Napoleons!! Elaine
