Wsaddle pad colors & turnout blanket options

What's a good color for a western saddle pad / blanket set for a chestnut-red horse? I have read "neutral colors are good", but find the bland sand / cream colors BOOORING!!

Also, does anybody else use a good, quality mid-weight turnout blanket? I'm looking for ripstop, waterproof, breathable, with some sort of guarantee. No more than 220gm fill, and would go lighter if I could add a fleece liner during cooler weather..

Feedback from other equine folks, please?
