Pond Gloves

Ridgeville, IN(Zone 5a)

The pond has melted!!! Pond season is just about ready to start back up here in Indiana, and I for one don't look forward to putting my hands in COLD water to clean my filter. LOL I've heard of people getting pond/water garden gloves.....and they don't feel the cold as much......and of course it keeps your hands dry, clean, and free of muck. I have found a pair on ebay, but wanted some opinions. Does anyone own such gloves? What type do you have, and where did you get them? How much is too much to pay? Here is a link to the ones I was considering on ebay. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=3212&item=2309195916&rd=1&ssPageName=WD1V

Thanks. Jenny

Jenny, I'll pop in an opinion since no one else has.

I dont have gloves-sometimes wish I did. they would have to be long ones to keep from getting water into them. For me, I think if they were tough enough to stand up to use they would be so thick I would not like the lack of dexterity.

Dont know how much you plan to pay but I did see some special long ones at Lowes today in the garden glove section. If you havent ordered yet-you might check those out.

Thanks Charlotte. I'm surprised no one else has an opinion on this either. LOL :o) I think they would have to be pretty long too. I would only wear them when I'm moving pond plants and cleaning the filter.....say from March-April.....and October. The ones on Ebay were right at $20. I doubt Lowes here has anything like that out yet.....but I'll keep my eyes open for them. Thanks! Jenny

Yesterday I ordered a pair of long water gloves on line for $21 with shipping. I do not know of their quality yet. Will let you know.

Hi Jenny,
I happened upon these gloves when searching for cheap pond liner. http://www.pondliner.com/OASEGloves.htm
They are only about 10.00.

Jenny, You can get the same gloves at TSC (tractor supply store), Actually they are the exam gloves vets use on cattle. Much cheaper a TSC.
