I bought a few hibiscus from loews and a few fancies from another local nursery. The man who sold me the fancies said to plant them in the ground in the pot because they like to be root bound. They are still small so I haven't put them in the ground yet but I planted the larger ones I purchased from loews in the ground in the pots. They were doing well for a few weeks and then the leaves started to turn yellow and fall off. I brought the leaves into the nursery but the same man wasn't there. This man told be to dig them up and get them out of the pots because they don't like that and to water them every day(which I thought was to much for the hibiscus). Could someone please tell me if I should be sinking these in the ground in the pots or not? The fancies also seem very leggy with very few leaves and suggestions on how to bush them out. I pruned them a little but I'm a little afraid to more bucause they seem so twiggy and fragile. One is about 2 feet tall but it's just one tall woody stalk with a few leaves on the top. Any suggestions would be most appreciated.
what do I do now?
Personally, I'd take them out of the pots.
I had 6 hibiscus growing in containers a few years ago and decided I didn't want the hassle of dealing with that large a container any more. (5 gal+) The growth when they went in the ground was unbelieveable. They more than doubled in size in a month!! And that was in the heat of the summer.
Thank you for the reply. I did take them out of the pots and I put them in the ground with a little oscomote. They seem to be perking up. Time will tell.

Hi KLisa, I liked that site too. Lots of info in just a few lines. It answered some of the questions I had. Thanks
