I was rearranging my filter pool and waterfall the other day when I noticed lots of clear, jelly-like blobs on some of the stones from the waterfall.
They were about 1/4 inch wide by 1/2 inch long, slightly narrower at the ends, and almost transparent. I presume they were animal as opposed to vegetable, but they did not appear to be mobile.
Due to the weather, I had been runnning the waterfall only during the day so they are not submerged in water all the time.
Any hints as to what they are, please?
Clear, jelly-like blobs??
Sounds like snail eggs to me. After a bit you should see tiny black dots inside each cell.
Yes, I also notice these things, though not as large as described there. Have lots of snails now. Thought they were excreta of snails, but then, I wondered about its transparent jelly-like appearance. Now I know what they are.
Of course !!! Good thing I kept them moist.
Thanks for the replies
Some snails can harm your plants if they get outta controll. Don't ask me which ones though, LOL.
Do you happen to have arrowhead in your pond? We bagged some arrowhead seed on our plants last year. I potted them up and found transparent blobs in our water. At first we thought it was a snail or something. Then I put a arrowhead seed in contained water with a lid to get it to sprout. Then the blobs started to appear.
