I heard my 1st Robin chirp of the year, late this afternoon around 5:30 pm - as I was heading out for a xcountry ski. It was indeed a beautiful sound, but I'm woundering what they will eat. Last year I spotted my 1st Robin Mar.30th.. They're early...
1st Robin of the year
I agree, Joanne. Even in my part of the country they seemed to be early. I saw my first Robin on February 25. But they have lots to eats here as we haven't had any snow for over a month now, and the temps have been very mild, so they didn't have trouble digging for worms. I love their warbling songs in the morning. It warms my heart.
Do you think it means an early spring?
hope springs eternal in the prairie heart - and is dashed again and again by father nature (mothers aren't that mean)
LOLOL........tis a cruel spring isn't it? One day we can suntan and the next freeze to death.
Donna, a little birdy told me...no, not a robin...that you guys had a few flakes of snow yesterday. Hope it didn't turn into anything nasty!
Been snowing here off and on all day yesterday and today. :b
You're right Rosemary. And it wasn't just a few flakes last night. Everything had a light covering this morning. It started off with a good rain in the mid-afternoon and we were all celebrating because it was our first precipitation in 40 some days. When I looked out at 8:00 pm it was snowing like nuts. But, by 10:30 this morning it was all gone, and no more rain either. Bummer! Had to water my Rhodys, Hydrangeas and Roses on the South Side this afternoon. We are supposed to get some more rain tomorrow and Saturday. We are sure hoping!
