Silver Spurge, Gopher Plant (Euphorbia rigida)

Tucson, AZ(Zone 9a)

Nice picture! Are you going to collect seeds? I need a tutorial!

I planted this last summer, I have read that you can propagate it by divisions. But dunno... hehe We will see...
but it IS very cold hardy, was very impressed, it survived 10F for 5 days and nights, lost some cacti, but that thing lived!

I planted 3 last summer and am really enjoying the blooms. One gets too much shade (such a concept for Tucson!) and is smaller than the other two. I wanted to share some with a neighbor but I haven't figured out yet how to do that.

I'm glad yours survived the Big Freeze. Impressive! Mine is surviving rabbits and ground squirrels. I love Euphorbias! They're starting to plant it in medians around here and I see it for sale many more places than it used to be. I'm glad it's catching on - it's a great plant.

I couldnt beleive it wasnt in the PF....

have you tried propagating it by division? I have no clue, just what i read..

does it resow itself?

Northern California, CA

Some of these non-succulent Euphorbias can be invasive. This one is an herbaceous perennial. Caution should be taken when working around any Euphorbia, even the non-succulent ones as the latex can cause a severe allergic reaction in some people. I haven't found my non-succulent Euphorbias to be invasive, but they do pop up in the strangest places!

I haven't tried anything yet. My understanding is that it self seeds and you can divide it - though mine aren't big enough. I thought once about trying cuttings (being careful of the sap, of course!) but I'm a little doubtful about that being successful.
