Thanks for the link! Since my success in sprouting just one seed this way (just one, but it was a snail vine seed, so I'm very excited), I've become a believer in nicking hard seed coats. However, this site suggests soaking then nicking, and I would definitely say to nick before you soak, as that's what lets the seed absorb all the water it needs.

This is an excellent place that gives info on starting all seeds. I downloaded it and then printed it out. if you decide to print it set your side margin at 1/2" to get all the info.
