Double-Sided tape DOES work!

Some time ago on this forum someone suggested putting double-sided tape on furniture to stop cats from scratching.

Well, we have a new cat in the house and the other day he sunk his claws into the arm of the couch and pulled. I had someone put the tape over the area where he had clawed.

The next morning he came in hooked his claws and then got a strange look and backed off. He acted as though he had touched the most awful thing that one can imagine. A few minutes later he came back and touched the tape again with similar results. That evening he came in and reached for the arm of the couch and then caught himself and did not touch it.

Since then he ignores the couch. So, who ever it was that originally suggested this a very big thanks!
