Lots of people would back that Maya vs. P&C assessment, though some would say the opposite. Myself, I agree with the former. Maya, though still slower to grow and bloom, seems to be a healthier grower in general (for me).

I think I may have an extra rooted cutting out in my jungle - have to check.

I don' t know any source, but have grown both Maja and PandC. For me Maja was a strong plant with thick leaves and was very willing to bloom. I never saw PandC in bloom, but compared to Maja it had smaller and thinner leaves and the branches was also fairly thin, It grew all too slow for me. I don' t know, if it was something with my specimen, but I heard also from other growers, that say, that PandC is both slow and a weak plant. It has beautiful leaf, though :)

Marie,

I have had only a single cutting take root. But, if you don't find anything over the next 6-8 months and you're willing to wait that long, I'd delighted to send you a cutting when my plant is big enough.

And a hint I've learned about Maya, of a the 15 varieties I've been fortunate enough to get to work with Maya is without a doubt the touchiest about a damp environment. It wanted an almost dry rooting soil to keep from rotting during rooting and continues to like the least amount to drink.

I would be happy to take a Maya off someone's hands. I have never grown that one.

Y'all make a note to yourselves to email around July or Aug and I will take cuttings for each of you - if there is wood to do it.

I'm not able to offer anyone a maya at this time But, I have two wonderful plants, that flowered all during the winter for me I find her tough once she is strongly rooted. But I find she does like water, just not soaking. She will tell you when she is dry she looks wilty. Her scent is wonderful...I can't cut mine right now because I am going for a shape. when she send up some sucklings I will be more than glad to share.

I'm about ready to call it quits with my peaches & cream, it's 2 years old now and only 2 foot tall never bloomed, looses all it's leaves each winter, their just now starting to come back, and it's in the GH in the winter. I 'm hoping to see a bloom on it this year. Just not sure about it. I didn't realize maya was slow to grow like the p& c is. I have maya but it's just a baby now.

Kathy, I've had Maya off and on for several years. For me, it grows from a cutting in the fall to a good sized bush or tree the next year. P&C was a waste of time for me. I had it well over a year and it was only 18 inches tall. I appreciate getting it from a member here, but it just didn't move fast enough for me. I finally gave it away. This is how Maya looked in 2003.

kathy_ann, If you do decide to call it quits with your PEaches and Cream, may I have a/some cutting(s) from it?

I love a good challenge!!
