MORE SUGGESTIONS FOR PLANTS FOR MY DOC AND NURSE

Northeast, AR(Zone 7a)

Y'all know these two lovely women saved my life. And I'd like to send them something special. I'm looking for suggestions of carefree plants (preferrably perennials) that are appropriate for a doc (a gyne) and a nurse who works with a cancer group called Breast Care.

So far I have:

Lamb's ears, aka bandaid plant, aka doctor plant
Clitoria vine (no gyne should be without one! LOL)

I am not looking for a handout. I probably have in my own yard the plants I need, I'm just not thinking of them that way. For instance, I didn't know lamb's ear was known in olden days as the bandaid plants and the leaves were used as bandaids. But I have a bunch of it in my own yard.

So if you can just suggest something with a medical name, or the names Evonne (Yvonne) or Angela in them or Curry (my doc's last name), or something related to femininity or cancer, I may already have the plants or can buy them. I just need names. If I don't have the plant and you want to trade, let me know. I do have a list of plants I can send you or maybe you can find something in my store that you'd like to have in trade.

I'd like to have the doc's box put together within two weeks, which is when I'll be seeing her again for a followup exam. The nurse's box I will be mailing whenever I get it together as she is in Little Rock.

I am also sending each lady some goat's milk soaps to pamper themselves with. I have recently discovered this wonderful homemade creation and I myself will never use commercial soap again.

Any suggestions for plants that you have is much appreciated.

What a great idea!
Candy is nice, but fun plants will be a very thoughtful gift.
Of the top of my head I can think of naked ladies (ask Wanda about them) and Digitalis (aka foxglove.)
Have fun with this!

OOOOH, I have tons of naked ladies!! Oh that's a good one!!! Very hardy and dependable! Thank you!!! I'll add that to my list! I can't believe I didn't think of those. All the leaves have popped up and I told several friends that they must have some "naked ladies" and then we'd just giggle. What a great gift for a gyne. Duuuuuh. LOL Thank you Epazota!

In doing some research, I've discovered that Paeonia albaflora (White Peony) has medicinal purposes directly related to women. It was once used to make a women's tonic, "Four Things Soup." It is also a remedy for gynecological problems. A friend of mine has one and she's giving me a section of the plant for my gyne. Nothing is easier to grow or more beautiful than a peony, huh? If I'm not careful, I'll soon have my doc's entire yard landscaped! LOL

Your welcome.
I am not usually very good at coming up with these kind of ideas.
Good luck with your project!

I'm also looking for plants with "Angel" in the name since both these ladies have been my guardian angels. I do have a hosta called Blue Angel. Can y'all think of other plants with Angel in them?

There are 780 listings in plant files for plants with the word "Angel" in them.

Thanks Terre_. That helped alot. I discovered that caladiums are "angel wings" and Hoya is Angel Rope, and some of the new daffodils I bought, Narcissus Trundrus "Thalia" are called Angel Tears. Ihave all these plants! I also have angelwing begonias. I've got more plants than I thought that would be perfect to the doc and nurse. Between what I have and the soaps I've ordered, I might just have a nice box for each.

Thanks everyone!

Thanks y'all. I did the plantfiles thing yesterday and discovered that some of the plants I'm already growing have "Angel" in their names, thanks to Terre pointing me in the right direction.

I now have all the plants I need for the doc and nurse. I'm going to see the doc again in a couple of weeks for a followup so I'll carry her box to her then. I've ordered some goats milk soaps too for both ladies. So I'm waiting on those to come in. Then I'll be all set. I hope the women like it all.

Thanks, everyone, for your help! I had just about everything right here under my nose and was unaware of it.
