Finally found out, jes how to properly place my 2nd Hard Drive INTO my PC's case .. BUT ..
Things were sortee tight, with extremely limited 'slack' in the ribbon cable, for the master and slave connections .. altho' both hard drives mounted vertically side x side (like books on a library shelf). Honestly feel, that I needed three hands, and for the hands to be far much smaller, too. .. Hee ..
However, I'm not sure if I may have managed .. to mis-connect the ribbon cable!! (yep, with me - it's quite possible!!)
At any rate .. once the difficult connections were made and things completed - immediately upon boot up .. the message (below, in accompanying pic) that displayed on my monitor, stated that a hard drive was bad .. But, from what I can tell - the message indicates that it was the 'master' drive (?)
Hence, my inquiry > Would some of you qualified folks, please, take a look-see at the message that was displayed, and tell me if I am perhaps correct in believing that I'd somehow managed to connect the slave to the master/vice-versa? ..
And if ^ this, is the case - - does it still necessarily indicate, that the 2nd hard drive is indeed 'bad' .. or, is it remotely possible, that it detected and 'read' it as 'bad' .. only because the pc was unable to read/detect the WinXP (or, any) operating system (?) ..
NOTE (1): The 2nd hard drive has no operating system on board, but had been prior installed .. as a 2nd hard drive also, on another pc! (So, I'm certain that the jumper was correctly positioned).
NOTE (2): That, I did go back into the case and disconnect and remove the 2nd hard drive, and put things back .. as they were initially. And, was then able to boot up and get 'back to business as usual' .. successfully, etc. !!!
There, is literally about an inch and a half of 'play' in the ribbon cable .. and about a one inch space to work in. Would appear that I need to obtain a wee longer ribbon cable .. with a bit more distance between the master and slave connections!
Any input that some of you make care to share .. would be most graciously appreciated.
Much thanks in advance ...
