Hi,
I lurk here often and feel like I know a few of you, even though I have never posted. I was encouraged yesterday to get out here. So here I am. Like many of you .....a Brug addict. From the first moment I set eyes on a picture of a bloom I knew I HAD to have one. They have been part of my garden family for 6 years now and last year was probably the most successful year yet with blooms. Let me rephrase that our whole approach to what we plant and the space allotted to it revolve around the Brugs. North Texas can have some tricky weather. We have had mild summers here the past two years (a blessing) constant flushes all season from March through mid December.
OK, working in the garden has been in my life as long as I can remember. My grandmother took care of me when I was a child and her love was the garden. My earliest memories are out there! One day at age 15 my Mother informed my Father when he arrived home from work that HIS Daughter was in the backyard building a greenhouse! Dad quietly changed clothes joined me in the backyard and well....it began. It is still standing today 30+ years later. I know he enjoyed having it as much as I did. After I went out into the world he started his seeds and grew Veg's in the winter.
Married to a great guy, live in an old house by our area of the county standards, small lot we are limited to the amount of yard we have so every inch counts. No grass just beds. I will enclose some links to two sites I use for pictures, please forgive in advance some have photos with my old camera I think it was the first digi arrived on the Mayflower.
Our favorite plants Alocasias, Old Roses, Coleus, Tropicals, Ginger's and of course Brugs.
I look forward to getting to know all of you,
Karen

Welcome Karen! How long have you been around before introducing yourself?
Thank You...............
I already feel so welcome please excuse my briefness. We own/operate 3 business and last night MOM fell and in ER for the evening, she is OK just lucky and sore. DH and I get up at 3 & 4:30 am respectively. In one of our stores we have entire family which trade with us and one of my long time dear customers just dropped dead a MOM overnight. Just had one of the sons in here he found her I sat down with him and we chatted for quite a while, totally in shock. He had to get out of the house when he left just a few minutes later the other brother arrived looking for him. We see folks every week many times more often than we/them see their families. I remember hearing the sirens this morning behind the store I am in shock such a wonderful person the sweetest spirit and yes she loved to garden we frequent chatted about our gardens, she had just had a mural painted on her kitchen wall, of a garden.
Well, I guess the gardening improved in Heaven today.
Thank You again I will be around in the morning.
The flowers and kind welcomes
Karen
Welcome to DG Karen :)
Welcome Karen, and I'm saddened by your loss. You're so right about Heaven now having yet one more gardener to tend the ultimate gardens of the universe.
Bless You!!!
