A voice from California's Wine Country

Calistoga, CA

I am fortunate to garden in the Napa valley of California. Growing up here in the depression we grew only those things we could eat. Now I grow those plants that are the most beautiful. I joined Dave's Garden to share the gardening challenges with fellow gardeners, learning from each other. Al

Welcome Al, I'm waving from the Bluegrass! I'm in extreme west KY, west of the Lakes. Love veggies and most anything that grows...you'll like it here...we're a friendly bunch...a little nuts sometimes...but you'll get used to us...we 'grow' on you!

Welcome from San Diego. We spend a lot of time in your area as my Dad lives in Napa. We go to the county fair every year. (At least there is never much of a line at the rides lol.) My daughter thinks we should LIVE there. I think she wants to have year round access to the Olive Oil Factory.

Frogsrus when you visit Calistoga be sure and visit our museum. For a small town it is pretty nice. I work as a docent some every month. Chalk Hills Clematis is only about 20 miles away and a good visit if you are here at the right time. Al

Al, I could tell by your screen name that you live near me. I have a lot of extra water hyacinths this year. In fact, I haven't seen my goldfish yet because all of the ponds are covered with the hyacinths. They're free to anyone that wants them. I don't want to throw them away and I don't have a car, so I can't deliver them to anyone, but if you have a pond or you know other people with ponds that might want a bunch of free water hyacinths, let me know. All you have to do is come here with containers or plastic bags and pick them up. Heck, you can sell them at the flea market for a buck apiece if you want. They're going for $5 each on the Web.

I had thought that voice might be yelling "Have a glass, have a glass!". LOL It is very nice to meet you! Welcome to DG. Lots of Californians here and loads of lovely people and gorgeous plants. Have fun!
