Growing Alocasia 'Frydek' (Alocasia micholitziana) corms

Portland, OR(Zone 8b)

By accidently overwatering my 'Fridek", most of the plants I had in a 12" plastic container rotted. All I have left is one plant with a healthy root system. I've replanted it into a much smaller plant with fresh soil, but while I was unpotting it, I found many corms. I'd say about 20 the size of a marble. None are mushy and some look better than others. I've treated them all with a sulfur powder to prevent rotting and am letting them dry out a little. Can I grow these into small plants? Any suggestions?

the same happened to me this week with my 'Polly' (my post is much the same over in House Plants).
Here's what I was told by another source:
"I would pot and put in a warm spot with barely damp soil until leaves emerge, then begin feeding with a high nitrogen blend. They are voracious feeders & like it hot & moist when growing actively. "

Good luck!!

Caron,
Thanks for the advice. Have you tried growing the corms? Did you have any luck? I wonder if I should feed the poor sole plant remaining. It's drooping and not happy at all.

I just planted mine as suggested thois weekend. It's in a mini greenhouse inside on a heat mat. We'll see. Think it's gonna be awhile.
I ended up cutting all the leaves off one, treating with fungicide on the top cuts, cleaning the rotty roots away and sticking it in a way smaller pot with a faster draining mix.
The other has one leaf left and seems to be doing ok so far.
The mix was very, very heavy and very wet so hoping a lighter mix will do some good. I watered with the Messenger so hopefully that will give it a good (new) beginning.

They are a bit slow to get started. Just be sure the growth tip is pointing up. If in doubt, lay them on their side and don't plant them too deep.

Oh good, at least I planted them right side up, lol. Thanks Calalily!

What kind of mix is best? What I've been using is a regular potting soil then mixing some sand and perlite in to allow for better drainage.

I use a mix of coir, potting soil and perlite
