The gardens are starting to color up finally. It sure is good to see some color after the weird weather we had at Christmas turned everything brown.
Leonotis nepetafolia
Some tropicals in flower
Gosh, look at all that land you have Susie. I am so green with envy!! Your flowers are great too! LOL
Look at all the colors!!! I have some crocus blooming. LOL bet you miss the TN winters huh? HA!
Oh yeah, I miss them(not). We did have a white Christmas. Had to move over a thousand miles south to have a white Christmas, lol. I do miss my crocus and daffodils and hostas. I bought some daylilies, they have buds.
Bravo~ Fantastic.
cala...does the Mexican honeysuckle bloom a long time?
Looks like Kyle and I had the same idea. I love the Mexican Honeysuckle. All are very pretty pictures. The Leonotis are both very nice. My L. Leonurus didn't start blooming until frost last year. I was so disappointed.
3 of us Shirley. Wow everything looks fabulous Susie. If your Mex. Honeysuckle is big enough would you root me some pretty please. Both my Leo's bloomed all winter in the GH. I really love them
These are so pretty, Have never seen them before , Beautiful, sure am ready to see some blooms here.
Everything is beautiful Susie. I love all of the colors and textures.
Kyle and Donna, the Mexican honeysuckle has bloomed year round here, only slowed it down a little at Christmas when we had the freeze. I have some cuttings that I'm trying to root, but layering is easier so I'll pull a couple of branches down and pin them to the ground. They root so easy that way.
I had two big leonotis nepetifolias last year and they got too top heavy and fell over. I hope these don't do that. Am I supposed to fertilize them?
The leonotis leonurus had blooms and buds at Christmas, but the cold damaged them. It's just started blooming again and boy is it loaded with buds.
Now Susie, I know you secretly miss those Tennessee winters....and mostly the spring tease, when we have absolutely beautiful days followed by sleet and snow! Beautiful photos. I am sooo jealous!
Mel
Susie cut 1/3 of the top growth off a couple of inches above a joint on Leo Nep if it gets to top heavy and it will branch out while the bottom stalk gets thicker and will hold the new growth. I love the smell of the Leo Leo. It was wonderful in the GH all winter. I usually just put some slow release fertilizer on everything in the spring.
Suzie, everything just looks great! My tacoma stans dies back every year, but it will bloom this summer. I don't have anything blooming just yet, but one day...........
Everything is beautiful Susie and it truly looks like Spring where you are.
Roz........your yard will be gorgeous before you know it. Glad to see you here....miss you!
Thanks Donna, I will try that. Now I have to go sniff the Leo leo flowers to see if mine are fragrant!
Well pack my bags, looks like you have quite a few blooms going,I'll be right there!LOL!
Susie, did you grow your leonitus from seed? If so, how?
Great pics ~ have you seen the alligator lately?
sorry Susie the folage is very fragrant
Liz they grow very easy from seed. Just surface sow and put in the sun. Keep damp.
Hot Lips my favorite salvia
The day before I took this picture she was absolutely loaded with flowers. The wind blew her flowers away but more will open soon.
The red is Hot Lips? I have to go hunting for this one, it's gorgeous.
Thanks for the sowing directions Donna. The package has been staring me in the face for about a month now.
They're all so pretty!
Thank you for sharing your spring beauties (and color) with us Cala. Ü
