Received these in a Round Robin and finally grew them last year.
Wow! They knocked my socks off. I could never figure out where the seed was. I figured I could just order more from a seed company. But a fellow DGer just told me she had never seen ones that also had green blossums.
What do you know about this? Did I have one seed that bloomed different colors or was there a mix? Sure wish I new who these came from. They were so delightful!
CLOSED: Looking for Cup & Saucer Vine Seeds
Hi Arlene....nice pic! I was going to ask just how large that blossom was until I scrolled down.
I am trying to germinate some seeds right now. From what I understand, the blooms change colors as they mature.
I can try and find my seed packet if you like....I think it mentions it on the package.
You grew these in Iowa and got them to bloom? Or did you grow them in California? I've grown them once before but was not able to get flowers.
Sandy
Now you have me wondering what color mine will be .... I got them from my 'Secret Santa'.
Check this place out to see the 'fruits' (seed capsules):

I had a brug in a 20 gallon pot that we overwintered in our heated garage in Iowa. When Spring came (or should I say "didn't come) I got so antsy, I started sowing seeds at the base of the brugs. When the weather was finally warm enough to drag the brug pots outside, I did so.
When these viney things started growing out of this one pot I slid it close to something it could climb on. And it took off! Bloomed and bloomed; it got sun in the morning and shade in the afternoon. Seems like someone said it doesn't like fertilizer but I could be wrong.
Maybe they won't bloom if fertilized?
You can them them at T&M

Thanks, Ahelms,
I found T&M and then found a place where I can buy the plants; a little pricey but for this year it might be better. Will try to collect seed for next year.
I just know this is one plant I do not want to be without!
Mine was white, too - and without being the Alba variety, it was supposed to be purple :-) The summer was awful here last year, with lots of rain and very cold nights, maybe temperature has something to do with it?
I got mine at http://homeharvestseeds.com/ - they call them "Cathedral Bells".

Key Lime is the name of the green flowered one. it was introduced back in 2001 and was said not to do too well. it is usually put into mixes now.
i know it suppossedly is supossed to bloom for 5 months.
I have a pack of the Key Lime that I was going to plant a few of and I just went downstairs to check the envelope, and they are not where I left them. Don't know where they went. Will look tomorrow. (Had grandson over and things disappear!)
Anyhow I found 7 cobaea scandens alba seeds from a trade. There are only 7 of them but you are welcome to them. I can't vouch how old they might be, but they have been kept in a cool place. The envelope says Flower Color: Ivory with lime. LMK if interested and I will pop them in the mail. Doris
Doris,
Of course I would love those and now imzadi will have me looking for lime. I really did think they were different flowers, like a mix, but they were so tangled together I could not tell.
I will email you with a list of things I have that might interest you.
Thanks,
a
I sent you email, and will let you know if I find my key lime seeds.
