This is what I'm faced looking at every time I pull into the garage. Not a pretty sight, eh? It's a wonder I haven't tossed them out the door. Is spring ever going to get here? I'm starting to doubt it. Can you tell I'm in a rotten mood today? *snort*
My reality stinks!!! I want summer :(
Hey Kristi! You are able to overwinter your Brugs in an un-heated garage??? I'm really impressed! I thought my garage would be too cold for them! So, mine are hangin' out in my sunroom and basement until the temps warm up outside! We still have a blanket of snow on the ground. How about you? Personally, I can't wait until Spring officially arrives! I'm chomping at the bit to dig in my soil and see some lovely Spring flowers....to post on Kell's thread!
Shirley the garage has a heater that is built in. I have it set to stay about 50F.
Hey,don't feel too bad,my brugs in the GH don't look much better than those,I can tell they are just starting to put out new leaves though, and old faithful CG has an actual bloom.
I just want that cold yucky white fungus outside that seems to grow everyday to go away....far away, and some temps above freezing would be nice......
LOL! Looks like those Brugs want to go an a road trip!!
I love seeing your yard pics, sure makes me ready to dig in some dirt!
Really CC? What temp does your GH stay at? How much snow did you get this season? I remember you pictures from last season. BRRRRRR
yeah,they are NOT pretty
I keep the GH at 55 mimimum.....
in December they tend to loose most of their leaves
and about this time they start to take off again
it maybe the daylight hours
I don't have artifical lighting in there
this winter started out great
hardly any snow till mid January
its made up for that now
it snows practicaly every day
Lake Effect
as of 2 weeks ago we were 10 inches above average
since then we've gotten about 2 feet
it does compress,so it doesnt look like as much after a few days
and we don't have as much as last year(Thank You Lord)
but when the Great Danes go out in the yard, and the snow is up to their bellies, you want to know if it will ever go away
Thanks Root! Where have you been keeping yourself? Okay CC- I'm feeling really bad for you now. Here I'm going nuts with the snow we've been getting. I'd be really needing some little pill from the doctor if I had to deal with all that snow. When does spring come for you?
You posted as I was posting Diane! What lovely pictures! I love your pot/plantings. Everything looks so wonderful. I LOVE all the stone work your hubby does. Keep the pictures coming- except for the snow ones.
Kristi and Diane....Your gardens look so beautiful in the summer....but they look beautiful now in the snow too! Of course that is easy for me to say....where it doesn't ever snow!!!
Diane you snow picture is wonderful. Your house looks like a medieval castle.
Hey you guys. Anyone east of Iowa will probably be seeing some nice weather in a few days. We are to be 70 tomorrow. Of course, it isn't going to last. Snow next week, but it's too warm for it to stay long. I'd love to see green too. Kristi, your garage is so organized. I'd love it if mine was cleaned out and the clutter put back in. Especially if packed on shelves. I think your plants look great, but I know where you are coming from too.
Hang on girls it is not far off. I have bees, and some cloudless sulpher butterflies and today saw a baby damsel fly.
Awww Donna, you are joshing us! We have 3 Alberta Clippers coming our way this next week. Will it ever end?
Kristi: Hang in there girl, it has to end sooner or later. Sooner I hope! Can't take much more.....
oh gosh hope they doesn't come this far down. I have to many plants out of the GH try to divide and pot for the RU
Brugie, I got all excited when I read your post, so I checked our forecast...
Boohoohoo!
More "lake effect" snow through Saturday, with highs in the 20's and lows around 15.
CC, we've had the same thing here, things went downhill after January.
I do enjoy looking at the "before and after" shots, makes me think of what's to come.
I'm trying to stay positive, but it's getting harder and harder with each snowflake that falls...... LOL

Such a treat to see Diane and Datdog's summer and winter looks.
I love terraces, and stone benches with pots and all the natural effects.
I'm collecting big pots everywhere I see them - Sam's Club, Pier 1 - now I'll keep an eye out for some benches to give us some raised looks.
Next week they are saying we are going to be in the 60's except for Wed. and Fri. then in the 50's but of course knowing Ks. weather it could change over night. Today it is suppose to get in the 70's. I can't wait until it is in the 70's all the time. Night and day. If you don't think this weather isn't making me a little anxious, I can't wait to start working outside as well.
Datdog and KRNYSGIRL your summer yards are really something, I wish mine would look like that, I live in the country nothing fancy, just ole country.
Hey, Crested chick - you are right - compared to you - what we get on the shoreline of CT is a dusting. And yes, Margie - some days I admire the serene look of new fallen snow -- but by February I have had it with winter and I long to see and smell flowers. My cellar grow light center is busting at the seems with plants preparing to be put out. I get to go to a large flower show in Boston next week and I am gearing up for a GREAT season.
Thanks for the nice comments on my hubbies stonework - he really is an artist. I am SOO excited about the 50 X 65 ft victorian garden he started building me last summer. It will be completely surrounded by vintage iron gates and fences and stone walls. We plan to put a LARGE cast iron bird bath, 10 foot stone pillars with hanging planters, and a stone fountain, large wooden trelleses and of course a special place for my brugs. It will be a small piece of paradise for me. I might never go to work again!
Diane
Is the house as old as it looks or was it built that way((meaning it was built to look like its been there forever)
Its amazing
reminds me of the stuff you see up at Bolt Castle in the Thousand Islands
I would kill to have a barn like that!
CC,hey fellow barn lover,you have mail.;0)
So many gorgeous pictures! Thank you for sharing them with us!
Hurry up Spring!
Okay CC your snow sucks! I've stopped feeling sorry for myself now. :) I'll be keeping my fingers crossed that you snow goes away quickly.
Fun thread - I love season changes and I like them to be reasonably on time, doesn't seem like that's much to ask, huh??!!
CrestedChick -
The house was built by my husband, John in the Early 1970s - he designed and built the house all by himself when he was in his 20s. He says that was before he was old enough to know it would be impossible to do it alone. LOL It is designed after a 16th Century English Cottage and constructed of vintage handcut stone gathered locally from sites where they tore down beautiful victorian mansions. The outer walls of the house are 2 ft thick! The barn is more recent - built slowly over the last 12 years - it is post and beam (no nails) and is modeled after a victorian Carraige Shed. Here is a view of the front...

What great pictures. Kristi your summer garden is always so pretty. I always become envious when I look at your pics!!
Poor CC and Diane. BRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR
Dare I say it is in the 70's here today? No rain in sight.
Doris, you cardinal is so beautiful!
diane: Your home is gorgeous. You should be proud of that man!
Kristi: Yours is to dream for, house and grounds.
