This morning doing my morning/coffee inspection I happened onto my Milkweed and OMG, I counted 17 cats !!! Have'nt spotted a Monarch butterfly at all this year and was wondering if the eggs could have gone dormant and even made it through the snow Christmas eve ?

Last one of one of the cats trying, I guess, to find better feeding grounds.

Oh my!! I would be panicking if I had eggs now! I had over 40 in December and had JUST enough. Have you ever taken them inside to pupate? They are so awesome to watch!

Hey, konkreteblond. Have'nt taken any in but last year I had to relocate 5 of them to my patio cover because they had attached themselves to the tarp covering my bedding soil. I have found two of the chryselysts (sp) on my bench swing and one Fritillary up higher near the passion vine. Last year I "gave birth" to around 18 to 24 Fritillarys, 8 Monarchs and 4 Queens that I know of. My daughter had taken a couple to her science class last year (6th grade) and the science teacher has really gotten to like me with all the critters that I send to school with her. I've be keeping up with the Native Tex forum and am hoping to get out there on the 23rd of April.

kipper2, that is so neat that you have so many chrysles'. Have never seen any here in my garden. I do grow 3 defferent varieties of asclepias, plus the native ones are around. Maybe too cold here for them. Anyway nice to see yours. DonnaS
