Tall Bearded Iris 'Musician (Keppel 04)'
Wow, great flower. It's a very recent Iris, i will look it up. Think it will be a expencive one again :)
John, It's $30 US dollars in this year's Keith Keppel Catalog. I've found that if they are carrying them, they are usually less expensive than anywhere else. You and I have expensive Iris taste, no?
Jee Dorothie, we do have an expensive taste ;-)
I promised myself not to buy unless price comes down to 15 dollar, so that will take another season or two. But in between i buy myself some cheaper beauties.
Good for you, John. Always stick to your price principles! Keppel does say however that he won't be carrying many Iris for sale anymore because he's focusing on breeding. If you really love this one, you might make an exception for it. In two or three years you will have three and even if they come down to $10.00 each, you'll be even.
I never thought about it that way Dorothie, clever girl you are! :)
I'm finding that Iris just don't decrease in price that much - maybe half the first year and half again the second year (does that sound like Iris reproduction?). Less popular cultivars, of course drop faster. And justification for buying something I love, well........Of course there are beautiful Iris that go for $5.00 - It's a quandry.
I hope i will be able to show you what i could achieve about irisses at the end of the year. If not i will be next year when they bloom.
Quandry is a beautyfull one too and is on my "got to have" list.
Does Keppel got his own website? I searched through all my links, but didn't found it. It would surprise me if not. Even googling didn't get me something.
:(
You've hit gold! Quandry is only $6.00. Keith Keppel's address is P. O. Box 18154 Salem, Oregon,97305. His email is: plicataman@earthlink.net. His catalog is available now. I don't know how much it costs for overseas. As to foreign orgers, he says that all of his new introductions are available through Mid-America gardens. P.O. Box 9008 Brooks OR,97305. Their catalog is $5.00US for foreign delivery. They say that they will only ship new introductions to foreign addresses from Mid-America Iris Garden but you never know what will show up on the list. The Mid-America web address is:
http://www.mid-americagarden.com/
You can connect directly to their email through the garden watchdog. The 2005 catalog is not up yet, but should be soon. You can browse the 2004 though. Remember that the newer Iris will probably have lower prices. I don't know if you can buy "Quandry" through M-A but you can always try. It was available in the 2004 catalog.
