Great ebay brug experience

Clinton, CT(Zone 6b)

Just thought I'd share with y'all --

I just recently bought a 20" brug on ebay - it's a "Butterfly". The seller was 'seedsprout' (from Florida)

The plant arrived up here in CT the night before last and I was just delighted when I opened the box to find such a lovely, lush healthy plant - complete with a 14" bloom and 4 buds! What a GORGEOUS color!

She was a little wilted for her journey, so I removed her from her newspaper wrapping and propped her up gently in a small container of warm water to which I added some Superthrive. She was standing tall and straight when I left her this morning. I will pot her up tomorrow.

I have now bought live plants from ebay sellers "Beloved1" and "Seedsprout" and received wonderful plants.

I got another happy surprise last night - I checked on my 8 seed crosses in rockwool downstairs under my growlights. - and 6 were up! Wahoo! I'm particularly excited about datdog's cross of butterfly X creamsickle. Wish me luck!

Sounds like you found the right sellers Diane. Who is seedsprout ? Is ss a DG'er?
I know alice is beloved1

I was wondering the same thing!
Seedsprout stand up and be recognized...LOL
Hey everyone there is a neat thread on wildlife forum, it's about a Starling Theft. Neat pictures. check it out.

This was in a post from another brug forum....see if it is any help in identifying e-bay sellers...

"Marion, I bought from Mary (tctopcat) before and got nice plants, and like tiG said, she is also a member here but I haven't seen her around much. You also need to check Brenda (seedsprout), J.T. (Countrygdn), Mary (hmmm, help can't remember her ebay name now but will as soon as I see it) tiG (tiG or tropicmiss), and *lagata, beautyfull plants from all of them!
Also nice plants from Georgiavines (I don't know who she is?) and beloved1 (I believe this is Alice?) "

Looks like Brenda is seedsprout!!!

Greensburg, IN(Zone 6a)

Brenda Delph is seedsprout, that is the name on all my shipments.

LOL kareoke....gee I feel bad now -- it's hard to know who your bidding against if you don't recognize their "handle" on ebay. In a way, I guess it's better not to know - I would have a hard time fighting someone from Dave's over a bid on ebay LOL!

I have about 5 plant/flower sellers on ebay saved to my "favorite sellers" on ebay. Beloved1 and seedsprout are both there.

KRNY. I didn't see your name, I had put a MAX bid on and was notified I was overbid, but by the time I got that notice the sale was over. Good luck, I bet it is a beauty.

Northeast, WA(Zone 5a)

Brenda is on BGI. My daughter and I have both bought and had good service from Seedsprout. Jeanette

datdog, I'd LOVE Rosamond x Creamsickle and the Rosamond x ??, assuming you have enough...

Ellicott City, MD(Zone 7a)

Krisiti,

I love the "working" name..."Trash Can" seedling! Too funny!!! What is the story behind a name like that?

Tulsa, OK(Zone 6b)

Kristi, I'd love a few of the Trash Can seedling X Kyle's Pink & Rosamond X Creamsickle if you have extras.

I remember the trash can seedling, she gave it to someone then found it several months later out by a trash can. It still had her tag on it, and I think that it was a pretty peachy color, but I'm not sure about that.

Clinton, CT(Zone 6b)

Wahoo...datdog you have mail!

Dick - I don't buy seeds off ebay - just from trusted sources like Susie French or a few other well known sources. Named plants, though, I don't mind buying off ebay (also from Trusted sources) because sometimes I lust after a particular named brug and there aren't enough cuttings from the many generous people on Dave's to go around. Butterfly was one of those. Vixen is another I really, really want alonng with mountain magic and some of those FAB pink doubles Kell has and ..Gee..I really need to control myself more....

Well said, Diane, I feel the same way...and, I want the same ones you do, lol!!!

Diane, so happy to hear that you had a wonderful experience on e-Bay and bought your Brug seeds from a highly reliable source! Hope your newly sprouted seedlings will one day produce beautiful flowers!! By the way, Brenda "Seedsprout" is another reliable Brug grower. I believe she has a nursery in S.W. Florida.

Thanks Ronna.

Clinton, CT(Zone 6b)

Hi, Ronna -

Yes, I saw on the return label on the box she sent my Butterfly Brug in that she was from Florida. I understand she is a BGI member, but haven't seen her around DG. I will definitly buy from her again. Anybody who hasn't seen a Butterfly bloom in person -- it is an absolutely stunning coral color! And what a fragrance - even from that poor bloom that had wilted on the trip up from Florida. I had it plastered to the front of my face for about a half hour! My husband, John was giving me the strangest looks! LOL

Keaau, HI(Zone 11)

OH, please....me too.

Actually...any selection with Creamsickle would be terrific. PLMK

Tellico Plains, TN(Zone 7b)

I need to look some more, but her listing dats as Angels Trumpets gives me a clue that I darn well better know what I'm looking at.

Hiouchi, CA(Zone 8b)

Scoot
i had to look pretty hard to find the Dats on her site, my first time there
i had only bought from her on Ebay
& the Dat seed she is offering as Angels is a little misleading
maybe she doesn't like to call them devils :-)

Dick

Tellico Plains, TN(Zone 7b)

Not misleading at all , just the wrong name .

Brugs are Angels trumpets and that's what I was expecting to find when I clicked on it..

Anywho, coulda swore I edited my above post ? ? ? lost in cyberspace I guess ;'(

All is forgiven and I'm starting my Hibiscus shopping list ....... LOL

Hiouchi, CA(Zone 8b)

if you want
i can walk around the neighborhood here and snip a pc here & a pc there
