Shade Garden Pictures

Sterling, VA(Zone 6b)

Is anybody else ready for spring? I sure am. We had some 60 degree days in February that really got me in the mood but it has been chilly and windy lately.

I just wanted to pass along the link below. These are some pictures of the shade garden at Meadowlark Botanical Gardens in Vienna Virginia. It is less than 20 miles from my home, but for some reason I have never been there. I will definitely make a few trips this year.

Those pictures make me long to be north again, for those are a old favorites. But show me one picture of snow and I snap back to reality.

I have been in FL for 20 years and I now have "new" favorites.

This is the middle of spring for me; ours start about the middle of Jan. It's wonderful....

BTW the pictures were beautiful.

Wow, those were gorgeous photos. I've always loved woodland gardens, but our dry Mediterranean climate in coastal Northern CA just won't support them without lots of expensive summer water.

Like Nancy, our spring starts in mid-January and by the end of this month, summer will be starting. Orange poppies are blazing on the hillsides and the iceplant is starting to bloom on the freeway median strips.

Next month my roses should be starting to bloom. Woohoo, I can hardly wait!

Great pics and information on shade plants. I am starting a shade garden and need all the info I can get on colors/seasons. Thanks for the pics.

A lovely garden. I think shade/woodland conditions are my favourite and I wish I had more shade in my garden! I love anemone, hepatica, trilliums, erythronium, hellebores, ferns, hostas, epimedium....
