Pee All Over...WHY?

Long Beach, CA

I have 4 dogs...3 big females (boxer, retriever and pitbull mixes) and 1 tiny boy. He is a Yorkie/Chihuahua mix and about 4 years old. I have rescued him almost 2 years ago and even after teaching him to go outside I still sometimes catch him lifting his little leg.
I really don't understand this anymore since he is the only male in the house. Why does he want to mark his territory? Is it because he is so small? He is a little feisty one and the girls do respect him but I sometimes have the impression he feels lonely among those big girls because he can't really play well with them. Even though they love him it's so easy to hurt him no matter how careful they are. Should I try to find him a new home where he is alone or has another little friend?
Could it be that he wants more attention?

I have a big back yard and the door to the yard is always open during the day. Before I go to bed I let them out and have them do their business but every morning I find poop from Mr. Oscar.

What can I do? Why is he doing it? The whole house smells like pee when I come in and my hobbies right now are vacuum cleaning and carpet cleaning. I have to do this every day and am really tired of it.
Any ideas?
