Been searching (obviously not using the correct terminology). I can find a temp alarm under $40 and I dont have that much dough :)
Any one know of a cheaper source?

I can find the temp thing...
I did a Google search for "remote thermometer" and came up with a number of pages. Here's one for $19.95:

Thank you. That does help some but I hoped to be able to afford one with an alarm. When you enter alarm in a search it goes crazy looking for an "alarm clock" :)
Charlotte, check Lowe's and Home Depot. They usually carry them.
they are called thermal alarm
here is a site that calls them temp alarm

Thank you Dick. I will try thermal alarm.
And I just did a search for "greenhouse temperature alarms" and had many hits. I never did the shopping, but it's something to try.

I found one at Home Depot. It works are 100 feet so I hope that will be enough.
http://www.giftngadget.com/osbar122hga.html This is the one I just bought, mainly because it had a 300 ft. range. I'm loving it already. It saves me from running to the greenhouse to check the temps a dozen times a day. It's climbing out there now. Up to 83.1 so I'll have to go out in a while and open it up a little more. Best money I've ever spent.
I just gotta tell ya, my GH hasn't been 83 since long before the first hard freeze, Dec 15, 2004. Brugie, is your GH in the sun??? Mine is pretty much in total shade, which I suppose is the reason it stays cool...I'll check to see if my thermometer is broken...
Mine is mostly in the sun. Early morning it gets some shade and late afternoon, but those conditions change as spring rolls in. I'd say mostly sunny all the time.
