I am a new member. I am Bonnie Ethington (defoecat) from Pleasureville, Kentucky. This is an interesting site. I have already looked at several threads, great stuff. I am 57 retired, an avid flower and vegetable gardner. Love hearing about what everyone else is planting and their success and failures (we all have them). Glad to be a part of this forum.

Vicki:

We are practically next door neighbors!! Pleasureville is in Henry County, 2 counties away. We are in the eastern portion of the county, and border Shelby County and Franklin County. We are approximately half way between Lexington and Louisville. So Big City shopping is not that far away. So thanks for the welcome, and I am sure that we will be chatting daily. BTW, what do you grow in your garden?

Hi Bonnie-

We are close, I just looked at the map!

I mostly grow flowers: perennials, lilies, daylilies and annuals here & there...oh yeah, clematis and roses too : ) I only started seriously flower gardening 2 years ago and I've kind of jumped in with both feet, especially since joining DG. I also grow tomatoes for hubby. I used to grown a veggie garden but hubby's always out of town, so the dogs yard (we have 5 dogs) got extended into the veggie gardening area (although right now it is occupied by a calf)! I hang out in the daylily forum a lot, but visit most forums daily.

I look forward to chatting with you!

Always glad to greet a fellow Kentuckian. Hope to see you around in the forums. What specifically do you grow? We have a large vegetable garden, and I grow some perinneals and annuals, hostas, clematis, and spring bulbs. Somehow, I am busy all time, even though I am retired, so instead of gardening together as we had planned, I garden when I get through with the household chores!! Talk to you soon.

Pleasureville, KY(Zone 6a)

hey gang:

Went to Walmart last night to pick up 2 items, and guess what, that darned old garden center just beckoned me. When I checked out, i had $70.00 worth of potting soil, preen, seeds, and etc, etc, etc. This garden fever really gets to you. Will be seeding tomatoes and pepper seed tomorrow. I am trying 2 or 3 different ways, just to see which one germinates first, and how well they do. Will let you know. This was previously my husband's job, but I've taken over this year. Can't wait for warmer weather, drier soil, and some good ole sunshine. The nasty old weather forcasters are telling me that there is a chance of some snow flurries this week. Oh well, spring will eventually get here. defoecat
