I ordered some seeds off of ebay- some were crushed- no bublbe envelope. But three packs were OK and I have some seeds soaking in the GA3 solution. I will keep you posted! I have tried about 100 passi seeds in the last couple of years and had ZERO germination. If this doesn't work I will give up on them. Joelle
GA3 and Passi seeds
Aw, that's too bad Joelle. Hopefully you'll have some luck with the remainder. If you have success, let me know the secret. I haven't had much luck with my seeds either except for the ones that I got fresh out of a passion fruit. I think maybe therein lies the secret...they need to be super fresh.
Good news I contacted the seller and sent a photo of the seeds I took when they arrived, and he is replacing them!! Arn't gardening folks great! Joelle
Edit= sorry I forgot to say thanks Bcrazy for th OJ tip, I will try some of these ones in it. Anyparticular brand you prefer. Thanks again, Joelle

I've noticed ever since I decided to buy a passion fruit that Safeway hasn't brought any in. If you happen to see any fresh passion fruit in town please let me know Joelle.......it will prolly be in mid winter.
Sure will - Keons didn't get their Florida shipment today, it has been delayed until next week- shipping out on Tuesday. That means Lakeview won't be until then also. How is the baby passi doing I gave ya, I can root you another if it is having troubles.
I think it got a bit too cold before we discovered it........I'll take you up on your offer! Thank you Joelle! Ü
If you decide to get into water gardening please check with me first.....I'm pretty sure I could supply you with something special.
No problem I will take a cutting in a few weeks. Water gardens- have never been my thing, I am way to lazy for that. LOL Thanks for the great offer.
I was at work earlier when I posted the above........thank you for letting me know about the FLORIDA SHIPMENT Ü as well!! (I find I often miss typing something because people have come to the desk).
Moose Jaw's really getting exciting now isn't it!! :^))))))))
LoL Pam, no action in the few seeds I planted yet.
Pass. caerulea is hardy zones 8-10. I have a 15 year old plant in my driveway in front of my house. I planted it when I moved in.My girlfriend, one block up the road can't get it to survive the winter. Mine stays green year round. Your seeds probably won't germinate if they freeze. Where did you get this information? Edited to say, I checked the plant files. I think they're incorrect. It is not a zone 6.

Lucky you. My one P. incarnata seed that was struggling finally died.
Thanks Pam! Sorry about your seedling Sandy, If these make it, I will take cuttings in the fall for you. Joelle
Gosh, you're up late Joelle. Jeanne gave me a couple of rooted pieces from the one in her driveway the other day so I'm keeping my fingers crossed that I can get them to grow but thanks anyway.
I have germinated 3 different passiflora seeds in the last year and had success with all three. I was told to start them with the paper towel method and it has worked well for me. the last one i started was passiflora quadrangularis, package said it would take 1 to 6 months to germinate and they started after just 3 weeks. Hope this helps.
Marilyn
Well, guess I'll be trying some seeds after RU. Have always been sort of scared with tropicals. It is all this brug talk flying around DG. Guess you are never too old to try something new.
Inanda - who can't find Dobie on her road map.
Where is she supposed to be? and why are you looking for her?
Not the Harry Potter Dobie Sweetness. Dobie the place. Wanted to add it to my DG map.
That is where Trailingon lives.
Inanda the wouldbe geographer
Oh, not Do Dobie. Anyway keep looking. now I'm curious.
Thanks y'all for making my head spin!
Want to get off? Take me with you.
;)
Ginny if she is listing her addy as a location......here is Dobie River, Ontario

(Pam....who will now click this off as a reference question) :)
I can't find a listing of Dobie as a town/city/village in The Columbia Gazetteer of the World
I like to eavesdrop on you guys, you're hilarious.
or a hamlet.
This is a quest!!! I found it on MapQuest - at first it wouldn't recognize the name, but once I entered the postal code (found through google), all was well. I tried copying the link to the actual map, but it wouldn't work for some reason. Anyway, here's a rough idea:
Looks like you're just up the road from us, Marilyn. :-)
Shannon
PS. the postal code I found was P0K 1B0. Hope that's the right one.

Marilyn, could you please give me a few more specifics re: your paper towel method. Do you put them in paper towel in a baggie? Do you have them on a heat mat or anything? I've tried a couple of packages and get one seedling that I end up killing. I put them in soil in a pot inside a plastic bag. My latest batch had algae growing on the surface of the soil. I decided to take that off today and discovered that a seedling had finally come up but was starting to rot because it was stuck under the soil. I freed it and left the bag off but it doesn't look too good. I had decided to give up because I figured the problem is that the seeds you buy are too old. What kind of success rate did you have?
I fold the paper towel in four and moisten it, make sure it is not wet but just damp. Put the seeds on it and fold in half again. put it in a zip lock sanwhich bag and i sit it on my heating pad set on low. Keep checking it if the paper towel is too moist the seeds will start to mold. Forgot to mention that i soak the seeds overnight before doing this.
Dobie is about an hour from New Liskeard, our population is 128, that is probably why you folks have a hard time finding it. We do have a great little community.
I have been a member of DG's since before there was a membership fee. I usualy just read the threads and don't post much as I only get here 1 or 2 a week. Busy renovating laundry room and bathroom right now!
I do have a few of the passiflora quadrangularis seeds left if you want to sabe for them. They are thompson & morgan seeds and they are great if seeds do not germinate, but at 4.99 for 10 seeds they should stand behind them.
Have a great day!
Marilyn
