My African Violets

Dallas, TX(Zone 8a)

Here is a photo of my favorite AV. I'm not sure what kind it is but I love the way the colors are on it.

oooh, very lovely Jesse! That ruffled raspberry edge is something else!

I keep telling myself I'm going to stick to buying named AVs from now on, but then something will catch my eye at Home Depot or the local nursery, and I'll think, well, who cares what it's called when it's so pretty?!?

If you're ever in the Winston-Salem area, you must check out a place called "Carousel of Violets" -- fabulous selection, some named, some not, but just amazing! Call first (she's in the phone book), as hours have been erratic the last few years.

I'm looking foward to warmer weather for many reasons, including that folks on this forum will be able to start swapping leaves & plantlets! I'm hoping to put in a nice order to Rob's Violet Barn this spring, too.

Thanks for sharing your gorgeous blooming violet with us!

critter,

I have sat here and drooled over Rob's Violets. Not only them but the other Gesneriads too. And my favorite one of all is the Espiscia "Pink Satin". I just have to have that. I've never seen anything that beautiful. I have a Columnea that I will be posting soon.

Well after searching through all 792 AV on www.optimara.com , I finally did find the one shown above. It is identical in every single way. It is Rhapsodie Susi, #100. I didn't really search through it to find mine, but as I was searching, I did find it. So now I know the name of it. And when it gets big enough to share, I will surely share it with you guys.

I just posted some cute photos of one of my Columnea on the photo forum. Then I remembered that they are from the same family as the AV, so I have listed a hyperlink for it here. http://davesgarden.com/forums/t/488257/ I hope you like it.
